“Wonderful customer service and scarlet macaws”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013

Chris Langos was very helpful both before we arrived and during our stay. He helped arrange transportation, advised us about side trips and was always pleasant to deal with. I had wanted to see scarlet macaws in Costa Rica. We saw a few in Corcovada National Park and I thoroughly enjoyed them. However, I was stunned when 6 of them swooped down to a beach almond tree which grows very close to the reception area. They came every day. They have a racuous voice which I learned to recognize. They are not loud like the howler monkeys were in Corcovada National Park though. We had spent the night at Sirena Station prior to flying to Puerto Jimenez. We were incredibly grateful for clean, spacious rooms with air conditioning. We ate in town at an Italian restaurant for one meal, but had better food at Agua Dulce and at Pearl of the Osa which is a restaurant a short walk down the beach from Agua Dulce. We never tried the large multiperson jacuzzi that our room and our son's room shared since we spent our time outdoors.

We went there for one night. It is a 10 minute drive from town and you feel you're going nowhere. Once there, the site is clean, oceanfront, there is huge pool and a restaurant on a large deck at the second floor. The beach in front of the hotel is very nice by comparison with others in the area. We saw monkeys behind the hotel and scarlet macaws at the beach. The room is quite large, clean and there is a large jacuzzi (I am still questioning why would someone wants to have a jacuzzi inside given the hot weather there...) in the room and a fridge. Overall, we liked the the beach, the included breakfast was good, Chris was very kind and helpful. The beds were quite uncomfortable (mattress felt as soft as a plywood board), there was no air coming into our room, A/C was a necessity. We were at ground floor on the 3rd row from the beach so a beachfront room would have probably been better. The pool water was too warm and not crystal clear, which is obviously difficult to get when the water is this warm. The place may lack ambiance and is a little remote if you want to have dinner in town. Driving this road at night was not something I felt very wise doing...

Room Tip: Take a second floor facing the pool or a beachfront to have more air coming in

We only booked three days and now wish we could stay longer! From the perfect beach location to the perfect staff, we had a great time. The rooms were very clean. The staff was attentive but allowed space to roam around. A very nice, private beach is just steps away! The grounds are maintained beautifully and it is all very affordable. The staff found out it was our 25th wedding anniversary and surprised us with a beautiful cake and serenade. We highly recommend the Agua Dulce when you are anywhere near Puerto Jimenez!!

Room Tip: Pool/Beach View rooms provide beautiful view of ocean and you can hear the waves!!

Do you want a slice of heaven while paying low rates? Ya, go here. I searched all over the OSA peninsula and like you, having read the reviews, it made sense to pick this hotel. Well, it was better than I planned. First off Chris Langos is the best. Anytime I had a question about Costa Rica or what to do, Id email him and get an answer back right away. He was extremely resourceful. He gave us a warm welcome and actually cared that we were comfortable. He'd often spend his evening in the restaurant trying to get acquainted with his guests. Awesome guy.
He linked us up with Vilmar Lopez, whose a local guide who took us into Corcovado park. This man was a HIGHLY SKILLED, like able to spot everything and everywhere. He's well respected by other guides in the town of Puerto Jiminez as he's very well experienced, and other guides generally follow his routes. Definitely request Vilmar Lopez for any guides or tours in the OSA. He even brought us to a carnival after our trek where we met with his family and enjoyed a local rodeo! It was a really great experience for my GF and I.
Agua Dulce is nestled in a piece of untouched beauty. No neighbouring resorts close by and we literally were the only ones on this amazing beach, there were maybe a couple ppl in sight of a few kms. And this was during high season!
Bit of a drive to get there, but thats the OSA boys and girls. And the neighbouring town, Puerto Jiminez, doesnt get any friendlier!
Lastly, the food at Agua Dulce was incredible. I usually dont like resort stuff, but Jeff the chef won me over with his Mahi Mahi (wow).
Guys your search is over, go to Agua Dulce and have an unforgetable experience!

Room Tip: We had a room close to the pool! Bingo!

I recently had the pleasure of hosting a large group (60+ people) at Agua Dulce for a multi-day multi- night meeting. The staff was absolutely amazing - bending over backwards to make sure that we had what we needed, even with a group that ended up being much larger than expected. The manager (Chris) was wonderful to work with, and even weeks after the event has been so helpful with getting all of the necessary paperwork refined to comply with our organization's standards.

At Agua Dulce you have the opportunity to hold meetings where people can literally hear the crashing waves and see scarlet macaws flying overhead during the meeting. It's a pretty great way to keep folks motivated and engaged. I would definitely recommend Agua Dulce if you're looking for a place to host a retreat or meeting!!

We ended up at the Agua Dulce resort after having problems with a house we'd rented and being a bit worried about our vacation on the Osa Peninsula. Staying at the Agua Dulce turned out to be great. Everyone who worked there was super friendly, the rooms were clean (very basic, but clean and convenient), and the overall experience very good. Our kids enjoyed the pool and the beach in front of the resort was fabulous.

My boyfriend and I visited Costa Rica for our first time over the Christmas holidays. Our first stop was Puerto Jimenez in the Osa Peninsula. We were nervous about our journey to this more rustic area of the country but our two night stay over Christmas Eve and Christmas Day at the Agua Dulce Resort made our journey and stay there a very pleasant one. We had emailed back and forth many times with Chris and even after confirming our room reservation, Chris continued to be available to provide advice and suggestions about the other areas of the country that we were interested in. Chris also set us up with a wonderfully knowledeable and experienced local tour guide, Vilmer, who took us to Corcovado National Park where we had a fabulous time.

In my opinion, Agua Dulce has the best location in all of Puerto Jimenez. The beach was an untouched natural gem, very beautiful and quiet. It was only a short drive to town and the beachfront location was unmatched.

The rooms were very nicely equipped and clean. We had a standard room beside the pool with two beds, a private bath, and access to a sitting room with a refrigerator. The pool and grounds are beautifully maintained and feel very safe and clean.

We enjoyed the restaurant very much. Jeff was not only an excellent chef but also a very friendly and helpful person. Although he keeps busy in the kitchen, he makes time to talk to the guests and get to know them and he was very accommodating to make us a breakfast at 5:45 am on Christmas Day before we head out on an all day excursion in the National Park.

Overall every staff member we interacted with, either management, kitchen staff, or servers, were very welcoming, friendly, and pleasant. We were sad to leave but happy to have such fond memories of our time there. I strongly recommend Agua Dulce for anyone wishing to visit the Osa Peninsula, whether adventure seekers (there's lots to do in the area) or poolside/beach lovers. We would go back in a heartbeat.
