My husband and I stayed at Arenas De Osa for one night before three days of hiking in Corcovado National Park, and for one night upon our return from Sirena Ranger Station. The owner of the hotel, William, greeted us upon our arrival and showed us to our room. William speaks very good English. The rooms are large and very, very clean. The spacious shower is attractively tiled and has hot water. The room has a.c., a refrigerator and a t.v. The beds are very comfortable. There is a room with two computers in it upstairs by the breakfast room. My favorite thing about the place, though, was the towels, which were less like regular hotel type towels, and more like something you might buy at JC Penney’s. They were soft and big enough to wrap all the way around you. Breakfast is included with the room. Along with that you get great hospitality. Our first morning there we had to leave by 5:00a.m., (before breakfast is served), but William had coffee made for us by 4:30. He also allowed us to leave our excess baggage at the hotel until our return. When we left that first morning, we failed to notice that my husband’s sandals and hat fell off of his backpack on the stairs. When we returned three days later, William had them waiting for him. Our second morning we were able to stay long enough to enjoy a very nice breakfast of papaya, mango, and watermelon followed by scrambled eggs bread, juice and coffee. Arenas de Osa is located just up the street from a good sized supermarket in Puerto Jimenez. This works well for stocking up on last minute hiking supplies. If you go to the store, don’t forget to treat yourself to an ice cream cone on your way out. Pura vida!
