The 4 days kayaking in the Gulfo Dulce with Alberto & his son Albertito was the highlight of our 2 week trip to Costa Rica. We also had great stays in Monteverde and Nosara so this is saying a lot. We were interested in the natural and cultural history of the incredibly rich wilderness in the Osa. We wanted to get off the beaten track. We wanted to hang out on a rare tropical ocean fiord and experience the difference from the Pacific coastline we know and love in British Columbia (Canada). Aventuras Tropicales gave us what we were looking for in spades: snorkeling, ethnobotany, bioluminescence, mangroves at sunset, birds, gators, light beetles, monkeys, Jaguarundi, dolphins, delicious local food, fresh fish, and stories of the area. The paddling was easy, the guiding professional, knowledgable and flexible. The trip was well planned and safe. The only thing is figuring out how and when we can return to do more.

At sunrise we hauled our 9 person outrigger canoe into the Golfo Dulce, Right on the beach near Puerto Jimenez, Osa Peninsula on Southern Costa Rica. We explored the mangroves, and river estuaries, and saw 3-4 Spinner Dolphins on the way back in to beach. Fresh Pineapple, drinks and cameras ready. We saw a boa, troop of howler monkeys, and 2 sea turtles. truly an exceptional kayak memory for me and my entire family. Blondie and Mike, from Lapas Nest Treehouse recommended us. Thanks so much.

I can't recommend Aventuras Tropicales enough! My wife and I did the full-day kayak adventure, as well as the dolphin watch/night-time mangrove trip, guided both times by Alberto. He was so informative, friendly and fun! We had an amazing time! We spotted howler monkeys, a sloth, coatis, dolphins and tons of fish while snorkeling on Sandalo reef. The all-day adventure is not for the weak - those last few miles back into the port were grueling, but we were welcomes into the harbor by a pair of bottlenose dolphins, who followed us around for 15 minutes. The evening dolphin watch was much more relaxing - there's nothing like watching the sun set while a mile out on the glass-calm Golfo Dulce. After dark, we portaged over the beach into the Rio Platanares to experience the mangrove at night. There was a new moon, and we were so lucky to see brilliant bioluminescence in the waters! We saw the glowing eyes of crocodiles and caimans, too. A great introduction to the natural beauty of the Osa Peninsula and Golfo Dulce. Alberto and his family were amazing guides and so very friendly!

At the last minute we booked a 3 hour trip into the Gulfo Dulche to look for dolphins and watch the sunset. We didn't see dolphins, but we did see the sunset. Alberto was a great guide, telling us about the bay and his indiginous family history. He was very interesting and very professional. We paddled to a remote beach, ate fresh pineapple and coconut that he had me help open. We then went into a bioluminescent river after the sun went down and looked for gators. All in all, very awesome experience that we stumbled upon to, but it worked out well and became one of the highlights of our week in the Osa.
