Spent 11 days at finca and almost don't wont to write this review to reassure there will be space when I come back because once you experience this place you will not want to leave. The grounds are beautiful, the food was freshly alive right from the property and the service was top notch. I spent 3 days hiking in the park with Eric their hiking guide which was unreal. The best guide I've ever had.even if you think the 3 day is to much you should do the day trips for sure. I will be stay again in the future for sure!!!

Upon first arrival we were just blown away by the grounds and maintenance of the lodge. Granted we had quite an exciting and eventful ride on the colectivo from Puerto Jimenez, we were not prepared for what this place had in store for us. The facilities were magnificent - namely Casa Grande, what a work of art. Beautiful wood detailing, huge, spacious decks, cozy chairs and hammocks - all amidst the forest and greenery of the hillside. One could spend their whole stay up there, if it weren't full the multitude of other activities to explore. We stayed five nights in one of the tent cabins and were treated to a barrage of monkeys nearly every morning around 6am. The tent had a nice cushioned deck, and a very large bed that took up the entirety of the tent. The jungle was astoundingly loud the first day and night, but you get used to the din, though the humidity was a bit overwhelming on a few nights and the one night we left the tent flap unzipped we awoke with itchy legs and some fat, happy mosquitos.
Lots of monkeys in the area, primarily capuchins and howlers - the capuchins were sure a rambunctious lot; at first one or two would be quietly munching on bananas or seeds, then the rest of the troop would join and the madness would begin, branches and leaves falling everywhere as they climbed and careened up and down the trees.
The beach is beautiful and the hammocks really come in handy in the afternoon, we took full advantage of the boogie boards and had a blast in the warm waves.
The chef Coco was amazing, preparing fantastic fare and colorful creations that we found delighting and delicious - do yourself a favor and do the meal plan!
The day-hike into Corcovado was great, Erick has quite a keen eye for the many creatures that call the park home, but we also found that exploring the Carate river early in the morning yielded good results, particularly with the birds.
Splendid dining, a magical setting, compassionate and flexible staff...a thoroughly eclectic experience!

This experience was simply magical for my two children and I. The minute we arrived, our lives were transformed. The no electronics policy was the beginig of a truly interactive lifestyle, jajaja.
There was simply so much to experience in these surroundings, that my kids quickly forgot computer games and I forgot about work. It was the perfect excuse to live in the present. I really can´t say we had one bad moment, we were just overflowing with the forests peaceful vibration. The Osa Peninsula is a place of such purity and benevolence, this continue to flow naturally in perfect sincronicity, you feel deeply embraced by the forest and the ocean. My son Diego who is 3 and my daughter Noelia who is 10, were full of joy. We were just laughing all the time, enjoying the smplest things, the breeze, the sun, the water and trees. To top it all, the food is simply delicious, world class healthy cuisine. Gathering around the table with my family, including my brother and his best friend, was a sweet littel ritual, we just felt so close and thankfull to have each other. Just a few minutes spent talking to the chef made it clear that his work was his passion and the food was made with love. This is the feeling we got from all the staff. We just felt at home. Marcus and Gaby are the owners, they are charming characters and always at hand, to answer any questions you might have. I specially love the story of how they met and personally think there should be a motion picture about it.

Thanks for your review, Nena! Your words are very inspiring, almost as great as your beautiful singing voice which we felt privileged to hear the night you came to Casa Grande with your guitar for a mini concert! It was wonderful to have your family here and we really hope you all get to come back again soon- Pura vida!

My wife and I travel a lot, and this was absolutely the best experience we've ever had. We spent 6 nights in one of the small cabinas and totally loved it. Be prepared--this experience is not for everybody. The cabins basically have no walls (just mosquito netting over the bed), and the birds and howler monkeys will wake you at first light; there's no hot water; the two lights in the cabina are extremely low wattage; you can only recharge batteries in the daytime; etc. But we absolutely loved the rustic elegance of the place. The cabinas are very comfortable: beds are great, storage adequate, security not an issue; utter quiet (except for the distant surf) at night. And yet you're open to the jungle. Our first morning, an anteater strolled right in front of our cabina at 5:30 AM. Every morning, we woke up at first light to the most beautiful bird songs--not to mention the squawking macaws, which are everywhere. Definitely do the meal plan. The food at the casa grande was astonishingly good. Coco is a great chef--very creative. If you were served his meals at a moderately priced, hip Manhattan restaurant you'd be quite happy. Such variety, too: we had 18 meals there, and not a single repeater. It helps a lot that many of the fruits and vegetables are grown right on the property, and that the fish is catch-of-the-day. But Coco is simply a master, as well. The guide we used several times, Erick, was also fantastic. He's a great birder. And he treated us to a real adventure: on our night walk, he found a sea turtle nest that was in the process of being besieged by crabs; we fended off the crabs, rescued about 25 baby sea turtles, carried them down within a few meters of the surf, and watched them crawl off into the sea. You can arrange tours when you arrive--Erick makes the rounds just before dinner is served every evening, and sets up tours with all the guests. Everyone on the staff, in fact, was terrific. The place is run with utter efficiency and competence. Anything we needed was instantly taken care of. Then there's the wonderful beach. And the ridge trail and the Puma Falls, which are both on the property (it covers about 270 acres). And the day-hike to Corcovado--which you should definitely do, unless you're planning on a longer excursion into the park. To get to Finca Exotica, we arranged a taxi from Puerto Jimenez through the hotel, which I'd recommend. It's much more expensive than the collectivo, but you'll get a driver who'll stop along the way if animals or birds are spotted. The drive itself is an adventure, and it's great to have a driver who's part-guide. If you've got a car, you shouldn't have any trouble in the dry season, although you'll need to be very careful fording streams and avoiding potholes. In short: we had the time of our lives here, and would recommend Finca Exotica to anyone who's willing to tolerate rustic conditions in exchange for a fantastic jungle experience. We're talking very seriously about a return visit.

Room Tip: Because we're in our 60s, we chose a cabina relatively close to the beach--the Ranchito. We'...

Awesome!
In the middle of the jungle and 2 min far from a beautiful beach!
The architecture, rooms etc... are fantastic and in harmony with the nature. It is so good made that you can not see it from the street. A really good job, non-invasive towards the nature. They are doing really good trying to preserve the nature. In all the Finca every detail is perfect.
The owner is a really good person, very friendly and always available.
Phoebe is great. She is able to organise everything perfect for you. She was even able to arrange our trip to the finca from Puerto Jimenez at the last second when we all discover that the colletivo was not running that day (it was Christmas).
The food is really good. They always try to mix new flavours to the typical food.
The two italians working there also great.
It is very close to the national park Corcovado and the guide they provide us for a tour in the park was perfect. He guided us for a 7h hike in the jungle that was unforgettable.
I would have like to stay more but I will definitively come back.
A must to go in Costa Rica!

Room Tip: all are awesome!

Its hard to put into words how much I loved Finca Exotica! If you are planning on visiting Peninsula de Osa, this is the place to go to...and if you are not planning on it, you need to change your mind because Finca Exotica is truly paradise on Earth! It is the best place to relax, rest and get the best sleep you have ever had!
Accommodations are the perfect balance of comfort and environmentally responsible architecture. We saw wildlife in its natural habitat constantly...a true treat for nature lovers. It was a truly unique experience!
Additionally, the staff could not be more attentive and friendly! Markus, Gaby, and the rest of the team went out of their way to make every guests feel at home and like a true VIP...all day, everyday. I have stayed in many hotels all over the world and Finca Exotica's service is second to none.
Finally, there was the food...oh, the food! Every meal was better then the last, and best of all, everything is prepared from natural ingredients. I discovered new flavors and dishes every time. Finca Exotica is worth it just for the culinary experience!
At the end of my stay I felt refreshed and renewed...I truly could not be happier with my experience at Finca Exotica and I cant wait to go back!
