This was a very well kept hotel with very helpful staff. That being said I am going to be very honest in my review here due to the fact that I was unable to communicate my concerns while there(language barrier with the available staff).
We booked our stay prior to the hotel changing hands and were expecting a different environment.
The hotel caters to a school for firedancers, spanish language, surfing and yoga. It is very apparent that this is their priority. We were expecting to have access to a communal kitchen area.( Description from the previous owners said this was available) Our only real concern was coffee in the morning. After checking in and exploring I discovered a notice that the kitchen was for students only. I went to the front desk and the young man agreed to let me use the coffee pot. It still left me with an uncomfortable feeling.
We were put in room 10....very clean and well kept with AC that never let us down. This room is below the communal area where the students assemble first thing in the morning, this sounds like a heard of elephants. I tried to speak to someone twice about our location but communication issues got in the way. We were also expecting a good reliable internet connection which we required for communication with home. This was also guarenteed. Not so in our location in the hotel. It was very sketchy and the young man had to reset often to get it back and still we had to sit in the hall to get a steady connection
We adapted to the room and stayed our full stay. I only wish I could have located someone to speak better english and I am sure this could have been improved. The price for this hotel was fantastic and I would stay there again and be prepared for the environment.
We would have appreciated a "heads up" about the change in ownership so we could have done our usual research.
A change in our room location probably would have solved everything, I just kept running into the same 2 ladies that spoke such little english....they were very sweet and tried to understand me.
Dont let this deter you...if you require quiet in the morning ask for a room in the back of the hotel and you may have to sit in the hall to use the internet. For the price you cant beat it.
