“Costa Rican Dream”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2013

We stayed at Solyluna for two weeks and loved every second of it! Patricia and Simon are such gracious hosts and from the moment we arrived they helped us get familiarized with our surroundings and gave us great advise on places to visit, eat and see.

We stayed in Luna, it was charming and very clean. Our favorite time of day was morning when we were woken up by howler monkeys in the tree tops above and sitting on the porch having coffee with the capuchin monkeys waiting for some breakfast from us...that was by far my favorite part of this amazing peace of heaven called Solyluna.

The location was perfect for us since we do not enjoy staying at all inclusive resorts.
We did rent an ATV and had a blast getting around, you will be able to see a lot more of the area that way if you don't have a car. There is a local bus that we used quite often as well as taxis, so you really don't need a car.

We loved our stay and Patricia and Simon. Thank you both again for a wonderful place that you have and for sharing it with us.

Gabriella and Jim

Room Tip: Both bungalows are great!

I stayed in a SolyLuna bungalow Sept.24th-Oct.2. This was the best Costa Rica experience. Patricia and Simon immediately helped orient me and made sure I was totally comfortable. This orientation included a comprehensive map of the area, explanation of the best sights and experiences, bus schedules and everything else they or I could think of. I think the river experience was my favorite - paradise doesn't get any better than that.
Sol y Luna is set only 500 meters from beautiful and serene Playa Los Cedros and yet the feel is totally 'in the rainforest'. The large property is lushly landscaped with all sorts of unique wildlife that can be quite friendly. The two bungalows and main house are set far apart so there is a good secluded feeling. The bungalow is very comfortable with lots of arty elements. A great place for a couple or a single. I very much wanted to get wildlife pictures and Simon and Patricia really created & assisted with Howler Monkey 'photo shoots'. Hilarious and perfect!
Patricia and Simon have also just completed their gorgeous new house called Estrella (star). For two people this is larger and more luxurious than the bungalows with some very cool & artsy design elements. I hope to stay there next next time!
Sol y Luna is a wonderful place with wonderful hosts! Thank you Patricia and Simon!
Sincerely, Lauretta

Charming place that made our Honeymoon very special! Quiet and off the beaten path this is truly a place you can relax and enjoy a local Costa Rica experience. Patrice and Simon were gracious hosts and even prepared us a map of the Montezuma and Cabyua area with a host of things to do and see. Our favorite mornings were making breakfast and enjoying the setting and the wildlife from the front porch of the bungalow. We will definitely be back to visit. Bungalows are fantastic and every detail very charming!

Room Tip: 2 bungalows to choose from, with a larger one being prepared as I write this. It is evident that th...

We just came back from a 10 day honeymoon in Costa Rica and Sol y Luna was BY FAR our favorite place that we stayed. It is perfect- it has everything you could need and nothing you don't. It just felt so real and natural. We thought we would finish our trip with a more "luxurious" place farther up north, but after Sol y Luna, nothing felt as authentic and romantic. Additionally, Simon and Patrice were such amazing hosts. Not only were they completely welcoming and warm, showing us the other bungalows on the property that they had built themselves (all beautiful i might add), they also helped us get a new rental car when ours broke down on the side of a mountain. Patrice got on the phone with the rental company and made sure that they went and got the first car that evening AND dropped off a new car for us by 10 am the next morning- we were SO grateful! We can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Sol bungalow- which i loved the setting of, especially the solitude of the porch, b...

The perfect location to stay if you are a couple looking for a quiet romantic environment surrounded by green and visited by various wildlife. Both bungalows are charming and comfortable and perfect for a couple (If you have a kid you can see about renting the "Estrella" house). Great location, close to town and nature. I'll be back for visit #3 soon!

Room Tip: If I had to choose between the two bungalows I'd choose "Sol" just because I like the...

We stayed at the "Sol" bungalow the last time we stayed which was in March 2012. There are a lot of places to stay in the Montezuma/Cabuya area but we chose to stay at Sol y Luna again in August of this year because it was so amazing the first time and frankly, we couldn't wait to get back and relax on the deck, drinking either tea in the morning or wine at night, watching the abundant wildlife. This time we stayed in the "Luna" bungalow and of course enjoyed it as much as Sol. Patricia and Simon have created two simple, tastefully decorated, and well appointed bungalows that don't rely on extra fluff and stuff to please. Instead, the simplicity and the way the bungalows compliment nature so beautifully make for a wonderful, peaceful, relaxing stay. Patricia and Simon see to it that the environment is peaceful and well-kept. They think of everything to make your stay enjoyable from making sure the bungalows are ultra clean, to making sure you have tea lights to place on the dining table on the deck at night so that you can have romantic dinners or simply enjoy the deck by candlelight.

I am sure we will visit Sol y Luna again as we have fallen in love with the area and can't imagine staying anyplace else when we visit. I highly, highly recommend staying there. If you're after peace and quiet (except for the howler monkeys but that is a GOOD thing and adds to the beauty and tranquility in my opinion), simplicity, tastefully and artfully appointed accommodations, you can't go wrong! If I could give it more stars, I would!

Room Tip: Both bungalows are great! If we had to choose one though, we would probably go with Luna because we...

Everybody else has already said everything there is to say. It was beautiful and Patricia and Simon were such wonderful hosts. The bungalow was lovely and quite cozy. We didn't need a car- we just took the bus, cab, or hitchhiked. Simon even picked us up once while we were hitching, as did a local cab driver (he didn't even charge us!). The people there are so friendly and accommodating. We had a great time and would definitely make the trek back.
