This family-run hotel provided my group with great service during our recent stay. Rooms were clean and reminded me of summer camp because of the dark wooden paneling. The best feature of the hotel is the upstairs balcony filled with hammocks. This is the perfect place to relax or take an afternoon nap when the heat/humidity makes it miserable to actually do anything. You can frequently see animals (monkeys, iguanas, etc.) from your room or from the hammocks. This hotel provided free wi-fi and free breakfast. The only drawback is that we had to pay for air conditioning, $10 a night. The AC is a necessity because it is impossible to sleep in the rooms when no air is moving.
One night, we got back to our room around 11:30 to discover that the AC was not working. Since we had paid for it in advance and because there was no way I could sleep without it, we went down to the lobby to get someone to fix it. Since this is a family-run hotel, all the "employees" were already asleep in their house area in the back of the hotel. But when we rung the bell for help, they showed up quickly and spent almost 20 minutes fixing the AC. We were SOOO appreciative that they actually got up out of bed to help us instead of rolling back over and going to sleep. This is a place with good service! I really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely come back!
