“A must visit! Jump from the 40 footer!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

Amazing amazing amazing, awesome hike, and amazing waterfall to cool you off after you have treked through the paths of Montezuma. It may seem a bit high up, but go for the 40 footer. Not many people attempted it, but I mustered up the confidence and did it. It was an amazing jump and I felt amazing once I was in the cool freshwater at the bottom! (DO NOT CONFUSE THIS FOR THE 100 FOOT WATERFALL!) Youll see what i mean when you get there!

Adrenaline pumping 40 foot jump and waterfall hike! Ryan- who owns the butterfly pavilion in Montezuma was an awesome guide and knew all of the best spots to jump, swim and explore.

“Must See, but for the hardy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2012

As Costa Rica waterfalls go, this one is one of the easiest to get to. Others involve long climbs up and down steep hills, or very long walks inland to the falls. The Montezuma falls is different because it is just a few hundred feet past the last hotel in town, and there's no hill between you and the falls. But you do have to negotiate the rocks along the stream to get back to it. I wouldn't take kids under 12 or. It's not that treacherous, but for some city kids who aren't used to nature, an accident could happen.

The falls are spectacular. The air is a good ten degrees cooler in the whole area of the falls. You feel like just resting and reading. The water is cold but wonderful. Like the rest of Montezuma you may be a bit crowded in by the usual pseudo-hippies and travel blinded 20-somethings. Go early in the morning, as with most things.

“Simply great!!! Montezuma Waterfalls”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2012

A must if you are visiting southern Peninsula. The walk at to the river and mountain is 100% worth it.
Always read the signs, where you can jump and where don't!!!! Be careful with it.

“So nice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

It's a bit an adventureous path but no so difficult, I saw children there.
So lovely area, so warm water, you can jump from beneath the waterfall.
There are 3 waterfalls in total but we stay to the first one and enjoyed it so much.
There are local guys who propose to help and could show you easily all the spots for few dollars. It's definitly worth it or wait that someone else book them.
