We stopped in after reading the reviews so we decided to stop in for a quick bit. We were there fairly early, so the menu options were very limited. We are not vegans, but we are fairly careful with the type of food that we eat. We eat all organic when available especially when we are back home in the states. Here in Costa Rica, most products are farm fresh and the animals are usually free range. I am not sure what products at Organico are organic or not as most of the menu items do not state it, the menu states if an item is vegan, but that is the extent of it. I had the chicken sandwich, which was ok, it had a a couple small pieces of chicken breast along with some greens, the kids had some pasta with butter and my wife had the, I cannot remember the exact name, but I believe it was something like "Tica Yucca or Yucca Tica, it was basically shredded yucca accompanied by some plantains. She also had a watermelon shake made with fresh watermelon and water and the kids shared some fresh squeezed lemonade. The food was way, way over priced for the amount that was presented. The sandwich was bland without much flavor, if it wasn't for all the veggies on the sandwich, I am not sure if I would have been able to swallow the dry chicken and bread. My wife's yucca dish was ok, noting special, very little flavor and again pretty bland. The kids pasta was just some butter and probably a boxed pasta that cost about 300 colones, it was surely not hand made fresh pasta and for the price of 3500 colones, one would think that someone just hand rolled it, cut it up and threw it in some boiling water for a couple seconds, The lemonade was good, the kids enjoyed it, we opted to add our own sugar, which was probably the only organic item that they put in their bodies.
Over all, the price for the quality, quantity and taste fell far from our expectations. Our bill was about 15,000 colones and with a couple thousand colones as a tip, we paid about $35 for lunch that should have been maybe, maybe $20 and that is with the tip, drinks and bogus 10%.
The server was very pleasant and nice to talk to. We met the cook, who is a very nice lady. We would only have returned for maybe a glass of cold ice water and to converse with the server and cook, but for anything else, we would just pass it right by.
Also, if you go there early in the day, the chef does not arrive until later in the evening, so chances are you will not be able to order from the dinner menu.
They have wifi and a book exchange, but we did not use either.
