“secret to a happy life: go now, don't come back”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2009

Reclined on a hammock in the shade. Temperature 85F. Low humidity. A refreshing breeze. Blue water in view over jungle canopy. Paradise found.

Of course there are gorgeous beaches, beautiful waterfalls, hiking trails, and plenty to keep busy. Montezuma is a quaint tourist town with style and substance (and a farmer's market).

If you can't find happiness here you won't find it anywhere.

My week in Agua Vista could not have been more perfect. My friend and I stayed in a spacious, two bedroom canbana with a fully equipped kitchen and large living area. Everything was new, tasteful and comfortable. Much or our time 'at home' was spent on the veranda where we had a stunning 180 degree view of the Pacific Ocean. At sunset, we watched monkeys swinging through the trees. Since Agua Vista is surrounded by the jungle, we were talso reated to frequent sightings of coati mundis, iguanas and parrots, along with flowers and trees of every size and color. Our hosts, Khalida and Alex, could not have been more gracious. They arranged trips for us to nearby beaches, tidepools, waterfalls and national parks. They took us into the charming, hip town of Montezuma where we enjoyed their farmer's market and some waterside dining. Whatever we needed, Khalida and Alex provided--food, laundry, and fascinating information about the history and culture of Costa Rica. We felt at home immediately upon arrival. At Agua Vista the pace of life is relaxing. The surroundings ar beautiful. The accomodations are excellent. It offers the best of Coasta Rica and we wish we had spent our entire trip there. We are definitely coming back.

Live in a scenic hilltop jungle world. Enjoy the hospitality of two charming hosts and their gorgeous children. Watch the hilarious Caoti families trail by as you cool off in the wading pool. Fall asleep to the song of the howler monkeys. Take a 5 minute ride into the famous town of Montezuma, one of Costa Rica's landmarks.

That's what it was like when we stayed at Agua Vista. OK, we agree that the 1/4 mile "driveway" up the rugged hill was a minor inconvenience, but well worth it.

WE stayed at Aqua Vista for a week in Dec. With me, were my girlfriend, and one other couple. What an amazing week. First of all, Khalida and Alex were the most gracious hosts anyone could ask for – and their knowledge of the area was so helpful to us Costa Rica first-timers. The property and lodging is great and really perfect for those seeking relaxation with privacy.

I miss Agua Vista! We (Jim, Heidi, Jason, Lauren) had such an amazing time there in Dec. The property is so beautiful and so was the hospitality. The first day we walked from Casa Morfo to the trail and followed it to the river. I was loving life. Swimming in the pools and jumping off of the waterfalls surrounded by jungle was thrilling and even comical considering that the day before I was in an ice storm (Chicago).

Agua Vista is the perfect base of operations for the adventurous traveler. We explored the peninsula by day and enjoyed the seclusion and home-like setting of Agua Vista each night. In the mornings, we woke to the sounds of the jungle and prepared breakfast in our kitchen – eating it outside on the beautiful teak table and chairs on our patio. A dip in the splash pool and a cat-nap in one of the hammocks were standard after a busy day out and about. The privacy, beauty, and gracious hospitality that Alex and Khalida provide at Agua Vista made our stay in Costa Rica truly special privilege.
Pura Vida!

We stayed at Agua Vista for 5 weeks with our young children, and loved it. Khalida and Alexander are generous, warm hosts, able to cater to the interests of North Americans while providing a close connection to Costa Rican culture. It's perfect for anyone who doesn't want to be among the chaos and noise of Montezuma center, but still within a quick and easy drive into town.

You must be prepared for a half mile of very bumpy road up to Aqua Vista but it is well worth it! We enjoyed the natural beauty and the peace and quiet. The pool is not a real pool, just a dipping pool but it was very welcomed after a hot day at the beach. A most enjoyable stay!
