Went there on a very rainy day with our 2 teenagers. We all got captured by the enthousiasm.of the guide and spent a pleasant 1,5 hrs there and learned that also bats have their issues -like humans- with adolescents:-). Our whole family could relate to this..

Great place to learn about bats, lots of info and facts, Kelly the owner does an excellent job.
Go there during feeding time and afterwards enjoy a cup of coffee at Stella's bakery.

The staff is extremely knowledgable and passionate about bats. He specifically talked about bats in our area (Washington, DC) as well as the differences between them and the ones in Costa Rica and around the world. They have fiberglass bat ears that you can listen through to hear how sounds are amplified differently than through our ears. The live bats are all behind glass and he was able to talk about their habits and show us some specific behaviors as well as point out different physical features that have evolved through different species. He also took a break to talk about briefly about the pair of Blue tufted Mott Motts outside the window. A very affordable tour, probably the cheapest in monteverde.

Highly reccomend. lots of info. I learned so much. The setting is very nice too. Just down the road from the cheese factory.
