I had never been anywhere quite like this Cloud Forest Reserve. It was about a five hour round trip by tour bus to get there from our cruise port. Kudos to our highly skilled bus driver as he deftly negotiated the mountainside terrain. The trip itself was interesting even though it was lengthy. We saw alot of the Costa Rican countryside at various elevations, drove through many small towns and farming areas, and took lots of pictures. The Reserve itself is breath-taking. Abundant birds and wildlife, although you can't always spot them. There is a little train you can buy a ticket for and board for a short ride around the Cloud Forest; plus many easy hiking trails. You really are walking through the clouds, as they drift down into the tree canopy. Saw a couple of cute long-tailed animals --- no idea what they were. They were fairly acclimated to humans. They watched me as I watched them, and were actually still for the time it took for me to photograph them. We ate lunch in the Lodge. On the way back, we saw some howler monkeys up in the treetops. This was an amazing attraction, and worth the trip if you have a full day to spend.
