On our way to Monteverde we were searching spots to visit and found their website, I already had heard of them as they interviewed Don Juan on the local news, we got there in the afternoon and went to a Souvenirs Store right in the middle of town, bought the ticket and few minutes later we were on our way.
When we arrived the guide was waiting for us and since it looked like it was going to rain they provided rain ponchos, we rided for a few minutes in a local oxcart just for fun and "Tequila" (cute little dog they have) rided with us, super funny!
Then we started the tour around the property were they show you every stage of the coffee bean, from the actual been, to the plant to the cup), little bit oh history of coffee as it has been one of our most important products to export, and also the stages of cacao (I'm from Costa Rica and never imagined cacao was so sweet and white once you open the cacao fruit!!, it does not taste like chocolate, what a discovery for me!)
Then they prepared some chocolate recipes for us and explained more facts while we were tasting them.
To finish they prepared a cup of coffee which for us, it was the best cup of coffee ever and then, the cherry on the top, we met Don Juan, very humble and friendly character.
The guides are very proud of this area, they know a lot about history of Costa Rica, traditions and enjoy what they do, ask them anything!!
We loved the experience and be sure we will be back!!! Thank you!
