I'll start with the good, we've been ziplining at various different courses (in various different countries), and their waterfall course is the best we've ever tried. The guides are fun, and the scenery is amazing. Even though it rained for a good part of the last half of our tour, we had a lot of fun. It was pretty neat to go swimming in the waterfall pool halfway through.
We also did their high ropes courses.....very tough but once again very fun and the guides were hilarious. The last few courses may have been the most physically demanding thing I have done in a long time. It starts off pretty mickey mouse but gradually gets harder, but you can get off part way through if it gets too hard.
So now that we've shared the good, there were a few problems but if we knew in advance, I don't think they would have seemed as bad. First, no phone, no internet. So there is no contact with the outside world unless you go through the hotel.
Second, if you don't drive there, make sure you have your transportation out arranged before you get there. Trying to arrange once you have arrived is next to impossible (partly for the first reason).
Third, in the rainy season it rains pretty much all afternoon. Now, it gets light at like 5:30am so if you get up early and get going you still get a good potion of the day. But then you have the whole afternoon to do absolutely nothing, so bring cards, bring games...bring something to do. It is an adventure park....so if there is no adventuring to do there is nothing. This is one way it felt like prison.
Fourth, and the another reason it felt like prison, meals are served at a specific time. And no other food is available. If you don't wake up in time, or you are hungry in between meals, too bad. There is a reason though, all of the guides also double as your servers, cooks...etc so they are only available between tours. And you can't walk or drive anywhere close for food.
The fifth and final issue, and the last reason it felt like a prison is that all tips have to be made to the owner and she will distribute them. So it made it feel like they were slaves and you couldn't reward them for their great work. We still tipped some of the guides anyway at the end of the tours, we just wanted to give the tip to the ones we thought earned it.
So with all that being said, if you are forewarned about the pratfalls of the camp....then it's all right. But if you are going in expecting anything resembling a hotel, you will be disappointed, and maybe a little scared and stressed. It's a camp, not a hotel, with amazing tours, funny and personable guides and some great views. If you go in prepared for that, you will have an amazing time.
