“Fun, Luxurious, Fantastic Customer Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2014

We so very much enjoyed our stay at Gaia. As soon as we arrived, we were warmly greeted by the owner and given a tour of the property.

We were with another family and we both had 3-floor suites which were very reasonably priced and beautiful and roomy - great value which is something I think is very important in selecting a hotel.

Loved the afternoon happy hour and we took advantage of it every day. We were so very impressed with the food - breakfast, happy hour and dinner. We enjoyed some of our dishes so much that we requested a cooking class and we were able to make a few of them with the Chef!

Highly recommend!

We stayed at Gaia for 6 nights during the end of July/beginning of Aug timeframe and had an amazing stay. It was luxurious, clean and modern. Very comfortable in our room, nothing ever out of place or odd. Just really, really attentive and caring staff who wanted to help you whenever they could and genuinely seemed like it. We ate at the restaurant twice for dinner (once, a full dinner, the second, mostly apps) and enjoyed each dish. I've read some 1 or 2 star reviews and was a little surprised because we didn't experience anything close to that or see anyone of the dozen groups/couples/families around react that way. This is just a very well run hotel making the effort to be a high-end American hotel at a very reasonable cost.

Recommend for honeymooners, couples, families, groups of friends, individuals, etc. who are looking for a very nice hotel. Budget around $200-$250/night (this was the wet season) but includes breakfast, a one-time 20 min massage and a shuttle to the beach and the national park. Not recommended if you're on a really tight budget, looking for a party scene on-site, hostel-type living, or quick 1 night stays. Otherwise, book your stay here!

Other Highlights
-Excellent staff and service
-Very nice and luxurious amenities
-Very clean and modern room (we stayed in one of the smaller studios facing Northwest)
-Shuttle service around town a PLUS
-Breakfast is included and very good
-Nightly live music
-Amazing restaurant view (We saw a lighting storm during dinner that was something you see on TV)
-Zipline and ATV tours recommended were very well run and safe (I think it was called "MidWorld Tours"). We were also able to pay through the hotel so no hassling with money day of
-On-site wildlife was better than the park (sloths, two different types of monkeys, iguanas, parrots, horned spiders)

What a wonderful review by some wonderful guests.

We thank you for your very kind and comprehensive review of our resort. Gaia is indeed special and unique. We are one of only a few 5 star resorts in Costa Rica and work each day very hard to maintain that status.

Thank you for sharing with others on this TripAdvisor forum.

It comes as a surprise that there is such a peaceful hotel in such a busy place as Manuel Antonio but this hotel is absolutely perfect. The views from the balconies both from the rooms and the restaurant are amazing and the food is great. The bedrooms are very comfortable and the staff really friendly.

Room Tip: Ask for a forest view

My partner and I loved our stay at the Gaia Hotel and Reserve in Manuel Antonio. The room was luxurious and every window looked out at the most fantastic views of the national park. We saw so many different types of birds and had a visit from one of the cute little squirrel (Saimiri oerstedii) monkeys that are characteristic of Central America. Every morning we enjoyed the delicious breakfast with the amazing panoramic views overlooking the reserve and the ocean. We went in the raining season (June) but there was still plenty of sunshine. We both loved the dramatic thunder and lightning storms which just added to the experience. There is no end to the activities you can do and 9 nights wasn't long enough! My son was working in Costa Rica at the time and the hotel accommodated him for 4 nights. We also got to see the two world cup football matches which were so exciting! The Hotel hosted a world cup party for the last game they played which made it even more special even though they lost! I would definitely recommend the hotel. The staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Pura Vida!

How wonderful that your experience at Gaia Hotel &
Reserve was nothing short of 5 stars. We are thrilled that you
had an extraordinary experience.

Yes, our "Green Season" is the perfect time to come with temps in the mid-80's and the
water temp. a constant 82 deg. Showers come late in the afternoon which is the perfect time
to relax after a full morning and afternoon of various activities.

Very clean and comfortable rooms. Built in too a mountain so a little difficult for us old timers to get around. Golf carts come very quiclkly to take you to the bottom. Some stairs to negotiate to get to the pool. All in all very nice hotel with excellent service. The view from the restaurant, la luna, is breathtaking, but I would pass on the food. Skip the free breakfast too. I had breakfast Americans, two fried eggs ham and hash. The eggs were just slopped on the plate on top of each other and the ham was that thin packaged ham that comes in exact squares. My husband ordered jumbos rancheros and a perfect square of processed cheese was laid on top. I had expected so much more from the food. Again the service was above and beyond

Room Tip: All rooms are good. Walk ability is a concern

We are so grateful to our recent guests for noting our excellent service by our wonderful staff.

The comments on our complimentary breakfast came as a surprise as we prepare each and every order to our guests wishes.
This includes fresh squeezed juices, coffee, numerous fruits of the season, fresh baked breads and pastries and of course the menu breakfast.
Our "Breakfast Americano" comes with eggs cooked to order and a choice of bacon, ham or sausage. The ham choice is selected by or chef as one of the finest available in the country. And our cheeses are sliced by hand daily from a cheese log that is purchased again from one of the countries top purveyors.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your comments with other readers on this TripAdvisor forum.

Gaia Hotel was fantastic. We stayed here for 5 nights at the end of our honeymoon. The staff are excellent and will do anything to make your stay as enjoyable and relaxing as possible. The restaurant has lovely good with a great view. If you prefer to dine elsewhere the reception will arrange a taxi pick up for you. There is a regular shuttle to the public beach and national park.

We hope to return to Manuel Antonio one day and if we do we will stay at Gaia again for sure.

The view from poll and restaurant is worth the cost of staying alone. Even better at sunset.
