“Wonderful small nature reserve”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2012

You could miss this place, since it's small and almost hidden. It's well worth a visit (especially on Mondays, when Manuel Antonio is closed). It's directly across the road from the Si Como No hotel, and has a sign associated with Manuel Antonio. Take a guided tour. We had a wonderful guide, Emilio, whose enthusiasm and knowledge made this one of the highlights of our trip. They also offer a night tour. The day and night tours are completely different -- it's worth it to do both.

“Santa Juana Jungle Night Walk - So much better than expected”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2012

This Jungle Night Walk was so much better than expected. Our group of 7 was exhausted from a day of ziplining - but we had this scheduled so we showed up.

We had a private guide for our group of seven. About 5 of us had flashlights. The guide led us thru the path and highlight nightlife in the rainforest - we would have never seen any of it without the guide. We saw huge spiders, lots of frogs, snakes, and lizards. In exhibits, there were turtles, caimans, and crocodiles.

In retrospect - this tour provided us views of Costa Rica that you see in the magazines. We say several of the tree tree frogs. Take the time to do this guided tour - it was so much fun.

The naming seems to be a little bit off - but the signs at the front of the enterance were Santa Juana - definitely a wildlife refuge.

“Excellent short tour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2012

This is a great one hour private tour of the butterfly gardens and the reptile exhibit. We did not do the late night frog tour because of the weather but enjoyed the thorough explanation of the butterflies and reptiles. Our guide (which I'm upset for forgetting his name) was amazing.

“Night Hike”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2012

We went on the night hike with Michael as the guide. He was extremely knowledgable and made the experience quite memorable. We saw many different types of frogs, snakes, spiders, and a kinkajou. They have a butterfly garden, enclosed crocodile area, that can be seen during the day. Book early because the night hike can fill up (only 8 persons max). The price of the night hike is $39/person

“Very good guide in our night tour”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2012

We decided to go ahead with the night tour to have a different experience and it was! We saw several type of frogs, caimans, cocrodriles, spiders, weird insects and the like. They guide was very god at explaining them, at spotting them (and teaching us how to spot them) and he was very good with the safety recommendations. He would take the time to show us the details and allowed us to take some very cool pics. My 9 year old son had lots of fun and we felt like real explorers in the dark.
