“Great value & Helpful Staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2010

We spent a week at La Posada earlier this month. I agree with the positive reviews on the place for the most part. We were in the Monkey Room, which is a bit of a dark cave, but was kept immaculately clean every day. We did not have much privacy there, as our deck faced the patio of the newly built Villa. The breakfast area serves as the common area for the hotel. My pet peeve was that there is a tv there, which was turned on to Good Morning America during breakfast. As we were right next to the park and wildlife was everywhere around us I would have preferred to listen to birds and have conversation with the other guests. I travel to tropical locations to get away from the news of the world!
Nevertheless, this place really is a great value and well kept. We looked inside the new villa room, and it is wonderful! A sitting area with two futons and a full kitchen downstairs and upstairs a bedroom with two beds and a balcony. We did not see in the bungalows, but they are right next to each other and to the pool, so nowhere in this property is there a lot of privacy, if that is what you are looking for. The area of the property is relatively small and the street outside is always busy with people coming and going to the park.
I would definitely recommend this hotel for its value and location.

Usually I am a little suspicious of hotels with universally good reviews, but this one really earned them. When we walked in there were monkeys playing on the roof, and an iguana sitting in the sun by the pool. The rooms were charming, comfortable and clean and the staff were really friendly. The pool is OK, not amazing, but you don't really need to be at the pool in Manuel Antonio. The best part is that the hotel is RIGHT at the entrance of the park! This is a real convenience because the area near the park is really developed and street parking is probably really annoying (we just parked at the hotel and walked everywhere).

It was also a great value -- although we visited during the rainy season, so the rates were about half what they are in high season. (And it's equally beautiful in rainy season!)

Did I mention location? This hotel is the closest hotel to Manuel Antonio Park. It is also conveniently located by a walking path to the public beach. Takes about 5 minutes to get there. There are many restaurants close by, but I recommend getting a pizza at La Posada. The hotel also serves full breakfast included in the price of your room. The best bargain in all of Manuel Antonio. Loved the staff, too. Also, you'll see more wildlife at the hotel than in the park! The park is not to be missed, though, with pristine beaches and turquoise water. Well worth the admission fee to the park. We stayed in one of the La Posada rooms the first night, and it was very nice, and the least expensive of their rooms. The second night we were moved to one of the bungalows. The bungalows are great for the private feeling, but I liked the Posada room better with it's full kitchen. And it was slightly less expensive. Overall, this is the place you want to be in Manuel Antonio.

La Posada was the highlight of our trip. If you're traveling to Costa Rica do NOT miss staying at this charming hotel. We stayed in one of the bungalows for a week and it was truly paradise. A 2 minute walk to the beach and it is adjacent to Manuel Antonio park so no need to deal with the hectic parking to visit the park. Mike the owner has truly set himself apart with this place, he has gone above and beyond to make travelers comfortable and at home. Equipped with a full DVD library of new releases, free internet and computer usage, free phone calls to the U.S., Canada and all over Costa Rica, wonderful breakfast spread, nightly outings planned by the staff and plenty of free bananas to feed the daily visiting squirrel monkeys straight from your private hammock as well as the fact that he shares the commission with you on any tour that they book for you. The staff is incredible, the location is ideal and the rooms are wonderful and equipped with everything to make your stay a comfortable retreat including a fridge, coffee maker and microwave. Mike went so far out of his way to accommodate us during a mini vacation crisis as well as the rest of the staff and I truly owe them many thanks for making our vacation so special. Don't miss this place...it's truly special.

La Posada Jungle is a wonderful place to stay. The management and staff are superb and go far beyond expectations to make sure every aspect of your stay is the best it can be. Can you complain about a homemade breakfast every morning?!

The hotel is small yet that is the charm that makes it perfect if you want to get away from the crowds; or if you do have a family, you can rest assured they are safe and can't get lost!

La Posada is truly steps from the entrance to Manuel Antonio National Park and shares with its visitors the Park's wildlife and allows for easy access to Park Guides. If you get the chance, find William, he is fantastic!

Don't miss out on La Posada if you get a chance, Mike and Jonathan will have our family back in the very near future!

You want to stay here. It is right next to Manuel Antonio. It is literally outside the hotel gates. Parking for the park is crazy otherwise.
Great service with Jonathan and Estevan.
Spaghetti and movie night is fun.
Be sure to get a guide to go into the park or else you will see nothing.
The pool is nice and refreshing and they have fins for the beach which is a very short level walk away.
There is a gorgeous deer who comes to visit.
The Casa is huge with a full kitchen and several couches.
Ask Estevan to get you the massage lady that is 50 for an hour. Not Elizabeth but the other one. I don't know her name but it was the best massage I ever had and she comes to your room.
