“One of our favorite places ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

My wife and 2 daughters (16 and 12) stayed here for 4 nights this past July and didn't want to leave. My wife and I were in 1 bungalow and we let the kids stay in an adjacent bungalow so they could have some time to relax away from their parents, and this setup was a great idea. The bungalows were reasonably priced and have nice AC. Good breakfast, great location, and- seriously- the best staff/owner of any place we've ever stayed. By the end of our 4 nights we would have been happy to scrap the rest of our trip (although we ended up loving Dominical) and staying here, or maybe just applying for CR citizenship and asking Mike if we could live in his bungalows. My youngest daughter (who loves the Orlando Hard Rock Hotel, to give you an idea of her lodging preferences) thought the place was a little sketchy when we arrived really really late from the airport and by the last day she was helping serve breakfast and folding laundry. The staff got us great discounts on a guide to the park and parasailing, and the weekly trek into Quepos for dinner and live music that Mike organizes for whichever staff or guests want to come is a great time. La Posada is not a 5-star resort but they will treat you better than a Four Seasons will. To be honest, I'm not one of those people who reviews hotels and remembers all the staff and then name-drops during the review; I always get a little leery about that, but here I go anyway- Jonathan, Esteban, Marcos were all great and were over the top helpful, the other staff we met were very friendly but I don't remember the names, Mike the owner will treat you like family, and Blanquita the dog will nap in your room if you're not careful lol. I'm writing this in December and it's miserable outside here near Washington DC and I'm wishing I was back at La Posada.

The hotel has the best strategic position in Manuel Antonio, right at the entrance to the National Park and only 300 m from the Espadrilla beach.
The rooms are very comfortable with a safe, microwave, refrigerator, coffee cooker, air conditioning, fan, TV, cozy porch with hammock and rocking chair. We had a king size bed and a lot of space in our nicely decorated room.Everything is clean, the staff extremely helpful and friendly. Jonathan provides any kind of information that you need to enjoy the place.
They have great service with laundry, beach towels etc. not to forget the best collection of tips about the place, that I have seen so far.The whole atmosphere is very relaxed. They offer delicious dinners with a movie three times a week for just 7 USD and sell Pizza to go at the entrance. A place where you want to stay longer or come again.

3 Generations visited... Grandparents / Moms n dads/ kids 18-13-11-6-2 and all were happy here. Bigger kids could walk out into area and be safe exploring by themselves-pool perfect for littles-location right next door to MA Park so monkeys visited at least 2x day and unlike some other posts... tourist on street going to MA not a problem/no noise inside property. Breakfast a real one- not just continental and a fantastic start to busy days. The staff is beyond stupendous-all really go well above and beyond to make sure your stay is all you want-ask for- and need. Had Villa-Bungalow- and Posada rooms and all were as clean as any 5*, Pool beautiful-nice way to end a busy day, The dinners were buffet served and very very good. All kids ate and tried new things and said it was their favorite out of 2 weeks in CR. Great review from them considering the diverse ages. Booked tours through the hotel and all were well described and just as explained to us. Couldn't ask for a better experience for our kids and grandkids first out of country trip. Thank you Mike for sharing your slice of paradise and for being such a great boss. Your staff is truly exceptional, happy and great people.

Room Tip: Villa great for family's-Bungalow 2 adults 2 children perfect-Posada quiet good room for 2 A...

We booked for the week but only stayed at La Posada one night. Note this is after having stayed at one of the luxury hotels up the hill, so we were a little spoiled and decided that La Posada wasn't for us at this particular time. We thought our son would like this place but he ended up not coming to Costa Rica with us. So it was just me and my husband. However, we have nothing negative to say about this place. When we come back with our young daughter we won't hesitate to book here. This place is a great value. We had a spacious two story villa, small pool, delicious breakfast, and the place is crawling with monkeys! And Mike and Jonathan are wonderful individuals. We explained our situation and they only charged us for 1 night after we cancelled the rest of the week after arriving. So nice and understanding! If you have kids and want to ensure your family has a great time, stay at La Posada!

Our family visited Costa Rica for the 1st time this month. We stayed the entire 5 days at La Posada and it was well worth it! This place has a nice pool perfect for my son and sits right against the Manuel Antonio Nature Preserve. We stayed in the Fisherman private bungalow and was a great room. The staff was amazing; friendly and accommodating, helpful with food or for booking tours. You feel welcomed right away. They serve breakfast every morning and it is high quality with a nice variety of choices for a small place. They also serve dinner 3 night s a week, we ate there for two of the dinners and there was plenty of high quality food. If booking tours, they split the commission fee with you so you get a discount if you book specific tours through them. My son is 5 yrs. old and while there we booked a zipline tour and a mangrove tour through Mike, the owner of La Posada. Both tours were excellent and my son loved both of them. Monkeys came to visit Monday and then again a few days later squirrel monkeys came to visit and my son got to feed them bananas. One day we woke up to howler monkeys, which is a haunting sound. My husband, son, and I were definitely not ready to leave and I would love to come back here.

This place is perfect for the young and young at heart. Our daughters ages 13 and 16 had a blast feeding the monkeys in the morning and watching them swing from the trees. We saw more monkeys at the hotel than the Manuel Antonio Park!

We stayed in the Jungle bungalow and La Casa and really enjoyed it. La Casa is perfect for families and very spacious. We loved sitting on the 2nd floor porch watching the monkeys swing from the trees.

The staff is very friendly and they do a great job cleaning the rooms. We loved the dinners offered every other night and it was perfect for our kids. On Wednesdays the owner takes a group to Dos Locos in Quepos. It was fun and great food and entertainment.

Overall great place to stay.

We spent a lot of time trying to figure out where to stay along the stretch between Quepos and Manuel Antonio. There were so many choices and one of the few requirements (with 2 kids) was a pool and the other was easy access to places to eat. Check and check. The rates were great too as we were there towards the end of green season.

We spent our first night in the monkey room and it was a really great room - had tons of space to put our items in the armoire and the dresser, which was a nice change from some of the other places we stayed on this trip. The only problem was the air conditioning wasn't working well in this room - we let them know in the morning and they quickly moved us into the villa which was awesome - lots of space to stretch out and while the switch wasn't necessary, they were much more concerned that we have a great stay with functioning air conditioning than anything else. It was so appreciated as it was certainly hot! There are some rooms in the main building, but many are private bungalows.

Breakfast was great each day and the selection was great. No one in our family ever left the table hungry. We really enjoyed the pool. It was small but they had a great selection of pool toys for the kids to play with. There was a nice lounge area as well so I could soak up some sun while the kids kept playing. One of my favourite details at this hotel was the fact they offered towels for the pool or the beach for the guests. It was such a nice touch and very much appreciated - we used them for both!

At lunch they offer pizza by the slice with a glass of pop for $2 and it was prepared hot and fresh and very good. It's not offered on days when the park is closed (Manuel Antonio park is literally right next to the hotel), which is important to know. You could also order a whole pizza, but it was much better to go by the slice. The staff were excellent at suggestions on where to eat, things to do and really did a great job of helping us get the most out of our time in the area. They even had flashlights in the rooms, which was important for walking back to the hotel after dinner.

I also loved the laundry service - we took advantage of this in several places on our 3+ weeks traveling around - it was the best, most affordable of all of those that we used. I can't say enough about this feature.

Truly, a great place to stay, nothing bad to say about it at all. Even had lovely soft, fluffy towels in the rooms. Might seem like an odd comment, but the towels across the country left a lot to be desired. Ragged, torn, rough...these were much more common than the wonderful fresh towels at La Posada - and face clothes, hand towels. A joy to behold. Not to mention there was soap AND shampoo in the rooms - that was the only place on our trip that had this and it was so welcome, to say the least. It was a two-in-one conditioning shampoo, but it was great. The daily cleaning service for the rooms was very thorough and the fridge in the rooms was a well used feature as well. Wi-fi reception was great throughout the property and the computer in the breakfast area was available for all guests who may not have had a device with them.

Would highly recommend and would stay again in a heartbeat. Just nothing bad to say about it, at all.

Room Tip: Not sure there is a bad room here at all. Just a perfect spot to stay.
