“refreshing place in Manuel Antonio (don't stay in quepos)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 days ago NEW

We were looking for a room near Manuel Antonio but hadn't done research on options. Depressed about our options in Quepos, we started driving up the hill toward Manuel and found this gem. Very relaxed, funky jungle environment. Beautiful views. Private room was basically a 3 story treehouse. Only downsides were the lack of very warm water, and ants that found food if left out.

Best place we have stayed thus far. There was a slight mishap with our reservation so they offered us a small, but clean room used for volunteers, which ended up being perfect. The staff spoke many languages and was very helpful with any questions we had. The kitchen was well equipt with anything we needed to make our own meals, and the overall treehouse-like structure was relaxing and serene. We had some great conversation with fellow backpackers and everyone was very respectful of each other via food in the fridge, shower sharing, etc. Breakfast is simple and sweet, consisting of papaya, pineapple, scrambled eggs, and rice and beans, as well as good coffee. Very pleased with our stay and we will surely be back as well as recommend to friends. Pura Vida!

We are having a great time and enjoying the beautiful hostel. Nice dorms, sweet Tico hostel with a beautiful view on the pacific. Doing some diving with the shop that is on the same spot and loving the family style way of running the lot. Thanks for your kind hospitality, the playas del coco Idc crew!!

We had a really relaxing 3 night stay in this pleasant, clean hostel. A short bus trip from both Quapos & Manual Antonio. The bus Is very regular so you won't be waiting long. The staff were very helpful and always with a smile and hello, that goes a long way. The pool is great, and a welcome addition after a hot day walking in the park.

I thought this hostel was a really cute place to stay and compared to the prices of Manuel Antonio was cheap. The staff is also really friendly. The double rooms are nice but give directly onto the main landing and since the walls are really thin and there is only a screen for a window you can hear everything. We ended up getting woken up really early (like 6ish). Also my 2014 guide book said this place had a bar and a good restaurant. I guess it must have changed owners because there is no restaurant and no bar, but it's a close walk to some good food.

After a wonderful stay last year, I came back to Plinio for my last 2 nights of a 4 week trip. The hostel is in a beautiful setting of an old hotel. The staff are so friendly and helpful, they simply couldn't give you enough advice on the area or whatever it was you needed! It's a shame that the bar and restaurant is now closed, however, there is still a great atmosphere in the evening with music and sofas and hammocks etc. Perfect distance from Quepos; only a 5-10 min walk. Easy to get on bus to Manuel Antonio. The road is a little noisy but I slept with ear plugs no problem (I've slept with ear plugs and woken up from noise in other hostels). Clean too and great to have some decent soap in the bathrooms! Also great to have a pool. Thank you, I'll definitely be coming back! :)

I really enjoyed my stay at Hostel Plinio. Excellent location (on the way to Manuel Antonio NP, possibility to take the shuttle walking 50m), awesome view, beautiful building, awesome breakfast, relaxing pool, working wifi, renovated bathrooms, VERY VERY knowledgeable AND pleasant staff. They really do their best to make your stay memorable. Was very impressed by the overall quality of service. Wish I could stay longer.
