“I want to stay forever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Plinio has a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. It was great to have hammocks and a pool. I stayed in 5-bed dorm. The beds were comfy, the showers were warm, and the third story balcony area was simply beautiful. Plenty of personal space, even when sharing with strangers. The wifi is best around the reception area. There is a communal kitchen/pantry area to store your groceries, cook food and enjoy breakfast. Breakfast is yummy fruit and bread. The bar was not open when I was there, but I am sure it will be great when it gets started again. Corey and the rest of the staff are phenomenal; Corey even helped me celebrate my birthday. I can't thank them enough for everything they did for me. You pretty much have to take a taxi to most places. I think the ride to Quepos is $3 and to Manuel Antonio is $8 and taxi drivers don't try to scam you. Walking to Quepos only takes about 15 minutes. Most of the tours (zip lining/surfing/paddleboarding) in the area offer free pick up services so that eliminates some taxi fees. I definitely want/need to go back.

I liked in generat this hostel - it has large communal area, bar and a pool, but the location is inconvenient - the buses to quepos town and manuel antonio come and go their own schedule, and taxis to and from manuel antonio/and town will add up to a daily bill. anyway, breakfast was nice, and i enjoyed the pool too.

We booked the 3-level private unit and it was great - ample space for relaxation, comfortable beds, great views and always quite cool at night given the elevation. Staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. The location is somewhat difficult, requiring a taxi to get almost anywhere really, but those are inexpensive in the area so not a problem! Breakfast was fine and the pool a nice amenity.

Thanks Corey for the relaxed stay and the delicious drinks at the bar. Staff here were extremely helpful with advice for things to do and places to eat. A little loud next to the main road but nice to be out of Quepos and on the way to Manuel Antonio right along the bus route. Pool was perfect to cool off in after a hot day out exploring. Wish the fridge had been working in the guest kitchen though - hope this is fixed soon.

I stayed at Plinio for only 1 day and night. Really big and nice looking hostel. Actually, hard to call it a hostel since it looks more like a hotel ! Surrounded by tropical trees. I've seen monkey in the morning near the pool area. Great to have a pool btw, since the beach is like 10min by bus.
But it's very close to restaurants, bars, grocery. Just a few min away from Quepos.
The owners are super cool guys. Very helpful and friendly! Breakfast was nice, I could choose from either pancakes or eggs + coffee. There is also a dive shop right next door. Was very convenient for me to do scuba.
What is really cool about this place is that rooms area is far enough to not hear anything from common area where people swim in the pool and drink beer and laugh. Owners even don't mind if you bring friends who don't stay in the hostel and hang out together.
Also gotta say that it is rare for a place that is perfectly suitable for any type of travelers whether you are a couple, a family with kids or a young solo backpacker. This hostel is one of those!
Only 2 things i dislike 1.wifi doesn't work in the rooms. You have to come closer to the lobby area. 2. Bathroom door :)

But overall for such price there couldn't be any complains.
I give it 9.5 out of 10 and would definitely recommend it to a friend.
Thank you !

I stayed in a private room here with a friend, so I can't vouch for the dorm rooms. Our room was very clean and comfortable.
The staff here were all wonderful - Rebecca booked a tour for us in the mangroves, and another staff member gave us detailed directions for specific things we needed in town.
We had a great visit.
All of the public areas (pool, bar, porches) were really nice and fun to sit in. The porch has wifi, but there is no wifi in rooms. (which was fine - its much nicer to sit out on the porch than in the little hostel room.)

I stayed here for 2 nights at the end of my 3 weeks trip to Costa Rica. It's so beautiful! It was the perfect place to end my trip. Very clean with super friendly staff. I went to the bar to eat dinner alone and ended up spending the evening with all of the staff with lots of drinks. Great place to stay when travelling solo. Easy to get to Quepos and Manuel Antonio by bus. Quepos is actually walking distance. Great to have somewhere to eat and drink on site too! Delicious food by a Peruvian chef - don't leave without trying the ceviche! Thanks very much for having me.
