“Has Potential”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2012

I was so excited about staying at the Suu Manuel Antonio due to the reviews and pictures online. I had a very comfortable and pleasant stay but this hotel felt vacant and lacking in many areas. It was still being built with only one functioning hotel section. The far right complexes were condos/residences. There are so many choices and price points in Manuel Antonio from super luxurious to hostels/backpacking rooms. This hotel fell in the upper middle. But again, it has so much potential. I will list as below:

PROS:
-Great location. We were upgraded to an ocean view from a garden view. Many trees blocked the view of the ocean directly but I preferred this rather than clearing the rainforest for human greed
-White theme was very trendy and crisp and clean
-Very clean rooms
-Bathroom was spacious and very trendy with nice full showerhead with shower wand and body jets.
-Every room has a balcony
-Blackout rooms were fantastic
-Good insulation- could not hear neighbors
-Restaurant food was delicious; breakfast was included and not a buffet
-Waitress was very professional and nice
-Infinity pool was refreshing
-Front desk was very helpful. They contacted our car rental company to pick up our car instead of us driving it to town/airport.
-Toiletries were very nice with extras including sewing kit, shoe polishing kit, spare razor and shave cream, toothbrush, comb.
-Turn-down maid service in the afternoons
-Can hear howler monkeys at dusk from your balcony
-Fast laundry service (pricey but worth it)
-Smaller, uncrowded beach located down the road. Approximately 1 minute walk away from the hotel and additional 5 minute walk down a rocky trail. We saw howler monkeys, toucans, and a sloth during our walk.

CONS
-felt half built and semi-deserted like they had to open part of the hotel while still in contruction in order to support the completion of the project?
-White theme was nice but nicks on furniture made furnishing look like they were from Ikea
-No cocktail service around the pool
-Slow service at the restaurant (but I think the hotel is limited in staff). Our waitress was working very hard to be timely.
-No internet/business center
-Whirlpool not open and pool not completely furnished (again, made hotel feel half completed)
-Lack of parking space (not a problem for us because there were not many people staying when we were)
-No spa or lack of advertising if it did exist
-Mini bar was not fully stocked like the list they provided
-***** The hotel name is not Pacific Souiss and this had NOT been updated prior to us coming. The signs on the curvy road said SUU and the sign at the hotel said Pacific Souiss. We were very confused and finally figured out where to go due to the pictures I saw online. It took another guest 1 hour to find this hotel due to the hotel name change! *****

Overall, I did enjoy my stay. Once this hotel is fully completed and fully staffed, I am sure it can meet it's luxurious potential.

The Suu Hotel
We stayed at The Suu hotel for 7 nights and have had mixed feelings about it. Pro: 1) There was an extremely helpful and friendly stuff, especially Jorge, the manager, and Paula. They helped our family a lot, even with things, which were beyond their responsibilities, such as contacting the rent-a-car company when our car got broken in the middle of the road from the airport to the hotel. Any of our requests regarding fixing some problems in the room have been completed quickly and accurately. 2) The cleanliness of our rooms (we had 2) were perfect. The turn-down service in the evening was another great touch. Con:1) The hotel is new and the construction was not completed; the design is amazing, but the comfort is not. The shower door in one of the rooms on the first day didn't open, and we had to call for the staff to repair it. The TV didn’t work in another room. The sliding doors to the closet got stuck in both rooms very often. 2) There were thousands of ants in one room on first day. 3) The key from the rooms often stopped working; we couldn't even get to our rooms on December 31 because the whole system was down. 4) The chef/cook at the restaurant is extremely slow; our first breakfast took 1 hour and the lunch took more than 1.5 hours, even with the diversity of the breakfast choices being very limited. 5) The road from the main building/pool to the hotel itself was very steep and had a scary feeling; it was like 60-70 degrees towards the bottom. 6) Elevator didn't work

Room Tip: Get a room on a higher floor= a great ocean view / no ants

The rooms and property were clean. The rooms were large and had most luxury amenities that you could want. The food was excellent and prepared fresh. The latter point means that the menu is limited based upon what foods they received that day. And the kitchen is small which means food and drinks take awhile.
The service staff is very friendly and Helpful. The property is extremely quiet so if you are looking for excitement you are better off staying closer to town. The only problem that I had was the water pressure and lack of hot water for 3 days. Also, the in-room safe did not work. I enjoyed relaxing on the balcony watching the monkeys play in the trees. The pool was decent, and sparsely populated, but I thought it was strange that towels were not provided and the hot tub was the same temp as the pool.

Great staff (thanks Kelly [spelled wrong, we know] for all your wonderful help), lovely rooms, amazing setting and views, very reasonably priced.

Food was generally quite good, nice pool, close to Parque Manuel Anotonio, very nice beach nearby. Quiet. Bed like a rock, alas, but it seems to always be thus in Latin America.

One caution: March from hotel rooms up to dining and pool is very, very steep. If you have knee or other mobility issues, think twice before selecting this place.

“Chic, modern boutique hotel”
My husband and I just got back from a 5 night stay. The hotel is only 9 months old. It really exceeded our expectations. The decor is absolutely beautiful. Everything is decorated in white with a very modern, clean feel. The service is exceptional. We were greeted kindly by name with a cold towel and tropical ice tea. All the staff went out of their way to make sure our stay was comfortable. We informed them we would be getting married and they offered any help we needed. The pool is nestled in the jungle and overlooks the ocean. The cabana beds are nice and the pool butler will pamper you. There is 1, open air restaurant with really good food. Marco, the Peruvian chef introduced himself and offered great dishes or will make anything you like. We requested a Peruvian dish we had in Peru and he made it for us. The hotel is at the top of the hill by the Parador so you need a car to get into town. A taxi ride is $10 halfway up the hill or all the way to the beach or into Quepos. The taxi fares can add up. We would probably rent a car to get around next time but you have to be comfortable driving up, down and around steep hills with fast taxi drivers! The hotel would call a cab for us and it would take 5 minutes. The hotel is very quiet and relaxing. We would definitely recommend this hotel and stay here again. It's a truly romantic spot in Manuel Antonio. Can't wait to go back!

This is a 5 star hotel in every way. You walk in and are treated to a cold towel and a frozen watermelon drink while you rest on pure white couches as your checked in. The entire decor of this hotel is stark white and clean. The "lobby" is actually an outdoor patio with beautiful views of the rainforest, beach and outer islands. The inifinity pool is gorgeous, and the rooms are also stark white and beautiful. Comfortable, with all the amenities you'd need. The details are fantastic, and the service impeccable. I would stay again as a splurge for at least one night of LUXURY!

My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights in May and enjoyed our stay. Overall the hotel is pleasant but there is nothing special about The Suu. Pros: clean rooms, nice views, good breakfast and very friendly staff Cons: local beach near the hotel is awful (not their fault) and the wifi.

This is a great place to do nothing and relax. Do not stay here unless you have a car because is is off the beaten path. Go elsewhere if you are looking for some action. On that note Manuel Antonio was quite unimpressive overall.

Mr.& Mrs...,
Its gives immense pleasure to listen from you that you had a great holiday in Manuel Antonio and The SUU especially. Gives more motivation and happiness.
Its is better to have a car rented, if you like to explore more about the surroundings of Manuel Antonio as the taxi fares are a bit high. And the beach is very small best for kayaking and snorkeling.

Thanks again for the feedback and we believe to meet you again at The SUU
