“Beautiful setting, large comfortable room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2011

Great staff (thanks Kelly [spelled wrong, we know] for all your wonderful help), lovely rooms, amazing setting and views, very reasonably priced.

Food was generally quite good, nice pool, close to Parque Manuel Anotonio, very nice beach nearby. Quiet. Bed like a rock, alas, but it seems to always be thus in Latin America.

One caution: March from hotel rooms up to dining and pool is very, very steep. If you have knee or other mobility issues, think twice before selecting this place.

“Chic, modern boutique hotel”
My husband and I just got back from a 5 night stay. The hotel is only 9 months old. It really exceeded our expectations. The decor is absolutely beautiful. Everything is decorated in white with a very modern, clean feel. The service is exceptional. We were greeted kindly by name with a cold towel and tropical ice tea. All the staff went out of their way to make sure our stay was comfortable. We informed them we would be getting married and they offered any help we needed. The pool is nestled in the jungle and overlooks the ocean. The cabana beds are nice and the pool butler will pamper you. There is 1, open air restaurant with really good food. Marco, the Peruvian chef introduced himself and offered great dishes or will make anything you like. We requested a Peruvian dish we had in Peru and he made it for us. The hotel is at the top of the hill by the Parador so you need a car to get into town. A taxi ride is $10 halfway up the hill or all the way to the beach or into Quepos. The taxi fares can add up. We would probably rent a car to get around next time but you have to be comfortable driving up, down and around steep hills with fast taxi drivers! The hotel would call a cab for us and it would take 5 minutes. The hotel is very quiet and relaxing. We would definitely recommend this hotel and stay here again. It's a truly romantic spot in Manuel Antonio. Can't wait to go back!

This is a 5 star hotel in every way. You walk in and are treated to a cold towel and a frozen watermelon drink while you rest on pure white couches as your checked in. The entire decor of this hotel is stark white and clean. The "lobby" is actually an outdoor patio with beautiful views of the rainforest, beach and outer islands. The inifinity pool is gorgeous, and the rooms are also stark white and beautiful. Comfortable, with all the amenities you'd need. The details are fantastic, and the service impeccable. I would stay again as a splurge for at least one night of LUXURY!

My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights in May and enjoyed our stay. Overall the hotel is pleasant but there is nothing special about The Suu. Pros: clean rooms, nice views, good breakfast and very friendly staff Cons: local beach near the hotel is awful (not their fault) and the wifi.

This is a great place to do nothing and relax. Do not stay here unless you have a car because is is off the beaten path. Go elsewhere if you are looking for some action. On that note Manuel Antonio was quite unimpressive overall.

Mr.& Mrs...,
Its gives immense pleasure to listen from you that you had a great holiday in Manuel Antonio and The SUU especially. Gives more motivation and happiness.
Its is better to have a car rented, if you like to explore more about the surroundings of Manuel Antonio as the taxi fares are a bit high. And the beach is very small best for kayaking and snorkeling.

Thanks again for the feedback and we believe to meet you again at The SUU

We went for a nice meal to the restaurant in this hotel after reading great things about the chef. On first impressions the place was very clean and chic but not another person in it. I ordered a Mojito while we perused the menu and when it came it was the worst I have ever had. No fresh mint and used instead it had mint syrup - yuck! The menu was limited to almost entirely shrimp with a couple of chicken dishes to mix it up. The steak was unavailable. The chef came out to explain the specials which were shrimp again! and my husband ordered one of them. Both of our meals came out as if from a can...the food was terrible. Hugely disappointing to the point that we wanted to just leave but felt we were paying a lot so ate some of it. We did manage to argue the price down but still paid a lot of money for a way less than average experience. Nice place for a beer but forget the cocktails and food!!

my new wife and i visited the suu for our honeymoon and were very impressed. the location is incredible, great view from the balcony of the ocean and the wildlife. we enjoyed sitting on our balcony watching the monkeys jump tree to tree 10 yards away. we recorded great footage to bring home. the hotel was very clean with very helpful staffing at the front desk, resturaunt and room service. we will definitly be back. the rooms were quite large and very nice bath and shower room.

We spent 4 nights at the Suu and left with mixed feelings. The resort needs a lot of work to bring it up to a standard to compete with the other high-end resorts in Manuel Antonio. I read the mix bag of reviews, and it certainly sums up our experience where each day was rather hit or miss - the last thing you want your guests to experience when you need to be striving for consistency. I commend the effort to hire local staff, and across the board the staff were very helpful and responsive to our needs. The open air lounge and pool areas were a delight, as were the sweeping vistas. Though a minor nuisance, you definitely need a rental car to get around when staying here - however the same can be said for most of Manuel Antonio. I also read the GM's response to the negative feedback on this forum. I do feel the need to criticise the management (who I think should be accountable for not addressing many of the problems that exist) for the following: providing the most basic of basic breakfasts which is an insult when you factor in the per night rate being paid, lack of decent wifi connectivity in the room, for opening the resort before all the work had been completed (it shows), not allowing hotel guests to make use of the covered parking because it happens to be part of the residences being added, overpriced minibar and in fact overpriced everything and worst of all, a lack of understanding of in-room guest comforts. The latter being evidenced in the sparse furnishings that required me insisting that a sofa be brought into the room so we actually had someplace to sit. This resort could have been made into something very special, but unfortunately the owners and management are just looking to cut corners without understanding the impact it continues to have on guest experience.
