We stayed here apr.24th and 28th, 2013 as part of our 2 week vacation. It was recommended to us by the owners friend who owns a working horse ranch in the mountains of baru where we stayed for the remainder of our trip (19th-29th). I'll take the opportunity to put a plug in for her place now as well. It's called rancho tranquilo.
We were looking for a little break from the mountains as well as a place to stay for the last night putting us that much closer to the airport and time to see manuel antonio.
We could not have been happier with this choice as we had booked a room elsewhere and looked at a couple of other spots and there was no comparison. We quickly cancelled our previous booking. I very seriously did not want to leave. It is smallish but so cozy with breakfast included and i tell you it was breakfast and delicious. Views of m.a. Beach from our rooms and pool/bar were beautiful. All staff we dealt with were exceptional. Feel like you want to single everyone out but Gilbert and Lewis (Louis) at the bar could not have been more hospitable. Such very non-assuming people going out of their way to make you comfortable. I really hope that american owners of these hotels appreciate people like this who make their properties a success. They deserve recognition. The same goes for administration people we dealt with...eric, another guy who has a daughter named michelle with 2 l's lol, and a pretty, slender with beautiful eyes young woman who we also did not get a name. I got the diareah thing the last day and she insisted before leaving that. I go back to the bar to get a chamomile tea with cinnamon very interested to bring me relief which for the record helped greatly...very comforting. The young man who got me the tea at the bar was also very concerning which is something i noticed about costa ricans in general.....very sincere.
The rooms were extremely clean, everything in working order and decor very inviting...big rooms. The only thing that makes my review fall short of 100% is the first night we had a room with a queen bed and it had to be the most uncomfortable bed i have ever slept in along with the dead pillows. The second night was a king..much better but regardless i would still go back again and do hope to. I respect other reviews opinions but not sure what the location problem is. Never crossed our minds. You would have to walk or drive from the other nearby accommodations as well?????
You do have to watch carefully for little sign to take you up a dirt road. We saw sign but missed getting there at first.
Very strong thumbs up. Will remember it fondly
