Hotel Mimos is a great little hotel in MA. Spring for one of the mid range rooms instead of the bottom end. Ours smelled musty because it was on the ground floor. The other rooms seemed nicer. The pools and amenities were fantastic, easy access to the bus to MA park, etc. Continental breakfast was a joke...

After reading positive feedback I decided to book at Mimos.

I was interested in staying in their "Luxury" building because it was away from the road noise. I e-mailed them multiple times to make sure they knew which room we wanted and that it was available. They confirmed it was and they quoted me a reduced price- written in their e-mails- which made the option even more attractive.

I faxed them my reservation deposit- with the price and specific room desired clearly marked weeks in advance. I received copy back that everything was all set.

So of course when we got there, we were taken to a different room- the one overlooking the noisy road! The room we thought we booked? Sorry, it was occupied... And the rate for this inferior room was going to be same as one quoted to me for the "luxury" room!

To make a long story short, even though they showed me they had a copy of the reservation form that they accepted, I was told by the manager (who was at first completely unsympathetic and gradually only slightly less so) that the front desk person made a mistake, quoted the wrong price (three times!), and placed us in the wrong room.

The solution? We could take the room at the regular price or leave it. We left.

People make mistakes. If the owner took some responsibility and honored the written price quoted to me I would have been only mildly dissatisfied instead of truly unhappy. But they really should have done more- something/ anything to compensate us for our inconvenience.

Mimos did nothing. That's our experience.

We had a wonderful stay at Byblos.

Great accomodations we had a junior and it was the best price in the area. Luxurious rooms are beautiful spacious with a great price. Personal and owners service is very helpful and cordious, restaurant has awsome Italian food by the pool> The hotel is very close to the beach and Manuel Antonio National Park.
THank you we'll be back soon.

We originally booked a standard room and although it would have been acceptable, we opted to upgrade to the suite mainly because the extra light coming through the veranda's glass doors - the standard rooms were a bit dark and they opened up closest to the street. The suite was basically a larger standard room with full sized fridge and a couple of burners - no stove. The fridge and the microwave were practically new. Generally, the place was great. It was cleaned everyday and the sheets were in good shape. The mattress was a bit too firm but I think this is pretty standard throughout the area. The hot water was plentiful, if not too much. Sometimes it was screaming hot and occasionally it wasn't available but that usually meant you only had to only wait a few minutes and it would return. This is Costa Rica after all and you shouldn't be expecting the Four Season's Hotel. The price, although high by Costa Rican standards, but not by Manuel Antonio standards, is worth it and it's amenities. The two pools and plenty of sun bathing space was great. The added bonus of having an Italian restaurant pool side was awesome. Rolando was a charmer and kept us laughing. Monkeys visited occasionally and large lizards bathed on the terra cotta tiles. Great photo opps. The hotel is located at the entrance to the road leading to the park, so don't expect to walk it. The bus service is adequate and taxis are cheap.I think the best part however was knowing that Petra, the hotel manager and front desk concierge, was a god send of information and she seemed to know so many people in town too. All that and she is quite funny too! All in all, we can recommend Mimo's as of February 2008.

“Outstanding Hotel!!”

We decided to go to Costa Rica for our honeymoon. Upon deciding the destination, friends of ours told us about their wonderful stay at Hotel Mimos. We looked at the website and thought it was beautiful!! We arrived on a very ugly rainy evening and were welcomed by Petra at the front desk. The next day we awoke in our amazing room that overlooked the magical rain forest. This hotel was incredible, the staff was outstanding including the chef, David, (who's cooking is fabulous) the waitor Rolando with great presentation, all the lady's who helped out and the owners, everyone, especially Petra, made us feel at home! We can't wait to get back to Hotel Mimos & Costa Rica, we really miss both of them!

SIncerely, Bridgett & Shannon Wiley
