“Most Charming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2010

I've never written on one of these before, but we adored our experience at Hotel Villabosque. We arrived in the city late and toured a couple of places before deciding on Hotel Villabosque. The owner's son Allen was so charming, helpful and friendly we were lured back to this spot. He was completely attentive to all our needs, bending over backwards to have our laundry done by first a.m. and even opening the kitchen/bar for us to have a midnight snack / fresh fruit concoction. He remarked this is your home :)

The little terrace restaurant is in an outdoor setting right on the property - just a couple of steps from our room. The food is down home good! Breakfast was delicious and plentiful, lunch was suprisingly gourmet. The staff was super friendly, attentive and knowledgable. Taught us which wildlife to look out for, which shells we could/not keep and forgave us checking out a little late due to monkey/sloth sightings on the trip back.

The next best part is that this little hotel is one of the FIRST in line to the Manuel Antonio park/reserve entrance. Since you can only enter the Park/Reserve on foot and come back wet from the beach and hot from the reserve walk, it is MOST convenient!! Glad we made this choice if not for that very reason because no one tells you that you have to walk all the way from your hotel - and there are many for miles!

Keep in mind, this hotel is not first class luxury, nor is the price. It is outdoorsy, clean, spanish-style charm with a little outdoor restaurant and courtyard attached. PERFECT!!

this hotel is the perfect spot for a couple, a family or friends to relax close to manuel antonio national park. i highly reccommend a visit, if you don't wanna spend tons of money for a rooms, but at the same time don't want to miss quality. to pool in is clean and refreshing.
the food in the restaurant is ok, even though the prices might be a little overcharged.

definately worth the price!!!

The rooms are nothing like the pictures. They need updating badly. Asked for a King bed was advised by the night clerk at check in there was none. Advise by the manager at check out that we were not quoted king bed prices. We were in fact quoted one price at check in and another at check out.
Do not eat at the hotel, it is over priced.
The room smelled like sewage.
The free internet is at a computer outside or bring our own.

spent 2 nights there. very good! very close to park entrance, beach and wild life. I had a sloth on my balcony! the room was very nice, clean and quiet. the balcony was large with a table and chairs. unfortunately breakfast was not included but there are plenty of cheap places around to get breakfast from. there is a very small swimming pool.

Pros: walking distance to Manuel Antonio National Park (around 15 mins)
complimentary breakfast that you can order it from the menu
really friendly and helpful staff
room with AC
close to gift shops, restaurant and supermarket
there's bus (less than 50 cents) you can take to Puerto Quepos

Cons: very basic room with tiny bathroom not something i'd suggest if you're looking for something close to luxuary.

Stayed here 2 nights, very busy part of the season.
There was something that I did not quite like about this place, but I never figured it out- I think it was just crowded and a little noisy with people coming and going. Or maybe it was just the general crowdedness of Manuel Antonio- after coming from quiet Monteverde.
Anyway, the people were very nice. Our breakfast server was super nice, made sure we had enough water- which is a rare thing in a restaurant in Costa Rica- I drink a lot.
The check in was very nice, helpful.
The location close to the park is essential- I saw many people struggling with parking, paid parking of course. We went to the park, came back for brunch and recover from the heat, then went back in.
The room is large, the beds were super comfy, lots of pillows.
AC great, Free Wi-Fi.
the pool was comfortable and warm at the end of the day, though it is small, not many people in it.
We met other people who hated their hotel in M.A., so I think we should have been more than happy.
Maybe the other factor is that this place is bigger than the 3-7 unit places we had been staying, loses the personal factor.
But, overall, I think for Manuel Antonio, it was a great place. and not to beat up M.A, this park had the greatest concentration of monkeys, sloths, cool birds as well as great beaches. it is just overdeveloped- they should cut back on the admission numbers more!

Recently stayed at Hotel Villa Bosque for 5 days. For sure, there are more luxurious hotels, but you can't beat this location. Within walking distance to the beach and the gate of the park. This proved to be very helpful b/c the park sold out each day so we were able to wake up early, buy our tickets, then walk back to the hotel to get dressed and have breakfast. Being near the beach was also great for me as it allowed me to walk back to the hotel and cool off & reapply sunscreen in the heat of the afternoon.
The staff was very friendly and helped us book excursions for our time there. The free breakfast was great and filling so most days we could get by on just snacks for lunch and save some $.
The bathroom was very clean and the ac worked perfectly (stayed in room 8). Only complaint was that the beds were a little hard. Basic hotel, but reliable and clean witih a superb location.
