This was the second time we stayed at this hotel. The last time was three years ago. The hotel has not changed at all since were last there and now, being more familiar with the area, there are a number of hotels nearby that offer more for the same price. The grounds nice and clean and the hotel is located down the road from the beach and from the National Park, making both walking distance. Staff were not particularly friendly or helpful.
The rooms are located in a separate building from the office/kitchen and are on two floors, with the exception of a couple of rooms. They have small patios along the front, or balcony if you are on the end floor, with chair and hammocks. The rooms are average in size and a little worn and rustic. The beds are hard and uncomfortable. There is air conditioning and a fan in the room, but no TV or radio. The bathroom is average with nice hot shower. The downside is that ceiling/floors are wooden, so if you are on the main floor, you hear every step the person above takes or everything they move a chair. There is little to do to entertain your self here so we opted to have dinner later and walked around the main strip afterwards to kill time. A bus is available and runs regularly if you opt to go in the town centre.
Parking is free and is available right inside the yard, which is nice. There is an internet computer next to the front office which you can use for a cost of 500 Colones/half hour. Breakfast is not included, but we tried it. It was not good and very expensive. The omelet was grease covered and rubbery, the toast was dry. The second day we chose to go to subway in town.
There is a grocery store, pharmacy, shopping, and dining, all within walking distance. I apologize for know having the names of the restaurants we ate at, we took photos of them, but our camera was stolen by locals on the beach. Our teenage son’s swim shorts were also stolen by staff at the hotel at 6am while we had them hanging out on the hammock to dry overnight. We confronted the woman at the front counter once she arrived but she told us it was likely another tourist. When I advised that were awake and no one was walking around yet, she said well it wasn’t us and left it at that.
We at dinner at a restaurant on the right hand corner of the main road and the road to the hotel. It was very good. We also ate at the airplane restaurant and again, it was very good and if you get there early enough you can get a seat overlooking the water with a great view of the sunset.
All in all, even a budget traveller can do much better that this nearby.
Request the second floor if you prefer not to hear people wakling and moving around above you at nig...
