“Close Enough”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2013

We stayed 4 nights as we took many of the tours that are offered in this part of Costa Rica. The room was very nice and everything looked clean. There was a nice refrigerator, coffee maker, closet, nice TV and the rooms are cleaned daily. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The pool is perfect to cool off and enjoy unless your training for the Olympics. The staff by the pool is great with drinks and also provide a well balanced breakfast. This place is perfect since it is a quick walk to the beach so you don't have to be woken by others as they make their way to the beach, plus your surrounded by the jungle and we were able to spot lizards, birds and other creepy things. I would stay there again

Room Tip: This is a quite place and not a party hot spot which was fine with me

had to switch hotels from sister cabinas to Hotel. They got our room ready early and allowed us to check in early. Pool was nice, good breakfests. room was big with kitchen. nice outside area for happy hour. in the jungle so woke up to howls of howler monkeys. Its a must to stay at least 3/4 nights to do all you can. This place is very friendly and as the Ticos say Pura Vida!

The biggest advantage to staying here is it's location; close to everything while quietly tucked away, just off the main road. It doesn't get much better than being 5 minutes from the ocean and 3 minutes to Manuel Antonio National Park. Our room was large with a comfortable king size bed. The staff was very friendly and helpful. While laying by the pool, the bar staff brought us courtesy water and kept our glasses full without us asking.

If you are looking to experience more of the Costa Rican lifestyle, this is the place to stay as it is not a resort but very comfortable and accommodating.

Also, if you are looking to surf (or for surf lessons) it is highly recommended that you travel to the far NE part of the beach (about a mile to the right if looking at the ocean) just below Hotel Arenas de Mar. Alex at "The Local Surf School" is absolutely amazing and an excellent, patient instructor. We accidentally ran into him one morning while walking along the beach. The experience was wonderful as he is away from the busy parts of the beach and the waves were much better where the locals prefer to surf. The value cannot be beat so ignore all the "others" hounding you near downtown and take a jaunt down the beach. You will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: Second floor rooms have vaulted ceilings, which makes for a much roomier feel.

Hello Chardy 858!

Thanks for posting your nice comments in Trip Advisors's site.

We are pleased you enjoyed the proximity to the beach and surf lessons.

We stayed two nights in a room with a king bed. The room was large with a comfortable bed and cathedral ceilings being on the second floor. Everything was great including the staff, grounds, pool, breakfast and bar. Quiet and far enough off of the road to have little noise. The beach is close as well as the park. Will definitely stay there again

We loved this place. Be advised that there are very few (if any) beachfront properties in Manuel Antonio. Hotel Espadilla is perfectly located--just 100m away from lovely public beach and very close to the entrance of the national park. Ask for an upstairs room which have vaulted ceilings, and thus a much larger feel. Pool area and grounds are beautiful, and restaurant was really really good. The staff is super friendly and helpful, and they have a nice gift shop in the lobby. Overall, a GREAT FIND!!

Room Tip: Rooms upstairs have vaulted ceilings and feel larger.

An excellent location – 5 minutes from the entrance to Manuel Antonio National Park & 5 minutes from the beach front, with its cafes, restaurant, supermarket, etc. First the good points … the pool, restaurant & gardens are excellent. Attentive & friendly staff. However, our room (which I believe is typical) needs refurbishment – the décor & fittings are all rather dated & a new bathroom wouldn’t go amiss. Having said that, the room was spotlessly clean, there was a very efficient fridge, coffee-making facilities, ample hot water & towels, even two large beach towels. On balance, we’d stay here again, but the rooms do need attention.

As part of our tour of Costa Rica, we stayed overnight in the area of Manuel Antonio. We stayed at another hotel, but came here with a group for diner. The place is nice, food was good, as was the service (O do not no cost- as it was part of out deal).
