My husband and I went here for a wedding -and found the hotel to be great. The room was clean and bright with nice decor for this area of the world. We did not stay in the main building -but in a jr or delux suite with an ocean view room. We had no noise issue, but could see how it might be an issue in the main building, if room is close to the bar.
While the main hotel did not seem to have an elevator -the top floor rooms had a view that could not be beat.
The staff was amazing -very felixble as we were a large group changing our plans all the time. they always came through on last minute tours, taxis and flights, often very last minute.
We were here in the last week of the off season, so we still had a great price, and breakfast was included.
The Hotel food was good, but expensive. I would recomend walking to the main road and eating at Cafe Milagro -be sure to take home coffee. Also the beach reasturants are good -try the ceviche -at any place.
Have a drink at the Hotel bar and catch a sunset -we were very lucky and were able to see the green flash one night!!!!
The Quepos tourist beach is a little too populated -people selling things and such. I would recomend buying a pass to Manuel Antonio National Park -maybe 100 feet away -and beach there. The water and sand look 100x more pristine. And it is fun to swim and watch the monkeys fly around the trees instead of vendors.
Also, do pay the men to take you across the small river to get to the National Park. There are rumors of illegal dumping into the river from upstream, and it can be unpleasant water. Well worth the dollar.
A sad note, but do be caeful about using random ATMs. Some people in our party had problems, but those who used the bank ATMs were fine.
