We stayed for 4 nights in the Casa Quinta unit at the Hotel Costa Verde. Like all hotels in Manual Antonio, the Costa Verde is on the side of a mountain overlooking the ocean. My husband and I were travelling with our daughter, son in law, and one year old grandson. It was an odd lay out. The main room had two bedrooms, one bath and a large main room with a small kitchen. The main room had a double bed in it and a big table and kitchen chairs and tv. There was no couch or sitting area other than the table. The kitchen had a small fridge, a microwave and a cooktop and a double sink. There were some dishes and pots and pans. We just used it for snacks and drinks. After all this was a vacation! In the same building but with a private entrance was another bedroom and bath. The unit has a huge terrace with great views of the ocean and comfortable rockers. The pool that was shared with a few other units was just a few steps away. We ate breakfast at the main hotel restaurant. It was good and again the views are unbelieveable. From our unit we could not see any other hotel buildings. We could park near our unit. We drove down to go to the public beach and just parked on the street and rented chairs and an umbrella. The Anaconda restaurant had great breakfasts. We saw the monkeys and a sloth and plenty of iguanas. Even saw a beautiful Toucan.

This hotel is one of the better, moderately price one's plus it is the closest to the beach. I mean it's about a 15 min walk to the foot steps off Manuel Antonio. A five minute walk down the hill to a few shops and another beach area. Most of the room have these amazing open Panoramic views. They have trails and Yoga sessions in the AM and a nice pool area. The not so nice things are the bugs but that depends on when you go. The power shut off due to a monsoon that rolled in and we had to go by candle light which wasn't so bad and kind of romantic but we were out of the room and had to walk from the beach back. We got soaked! I would suggest going before April and try to avoid the rainy season, but even then you never know. The rooms sleep 4 comfortably and there is no extra charge if you let them know prior to arrival about extra guest. There was no TV or AC in the room but that didn't bother me. They do have internet access available in the store in the hotel. Don't forget to buy a food on route as they provide cooking facilities with pots and pans and utensils.

“Good News and Bad News”

There are many contradicting impressions of this hotel. Let me separate them into "Good News" and "Bad News". The Good News included the view and size of the room and balcony. We spent time enjoying the fabulous weather, view, and comfort of our balcony. Room B-8 was plenty large for our 4 person family including a kitchenette. The A/C was adequate and the beds comfortable. We spent very little time in our room during the day. Too many beaches and jungles to visit. We enjoyed: the public beach (walk there and taxi back). The Manuel Antonio park (take a cab and skip the guide). Canopy tour, and Wave Runner.
The Bad News is that the noise is annoying. We have kids so we usually don't mind "happy noise" but the echo from the kid's pool is overwhelming. The noise from the road is extreme also. Most days we were not in our room, but one day I was and couldn't believe the constant truck noise. We would have been better off in another building.
Two other slight annoyances were that the breakfast wasn't included and there was no dressers or shelves to hold our clothing.
The service was fine. We can't thank Nicholas enough for helping us change our flat tire. I wouldn't use the hotel service for booking excursions. We saved $10 per person when we used a service in Quepos.
Bottom Line: If you can handle the hills and avoid the noise you will enjoy Costa Verde.

Our family which included two teenagers just spent five days at Hotel Costa Verde in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica. We loved every minute of our stay. Even with all of the pictures we had looked at on Trip Advisor, we were pleasantly surprised on arrival. Our room had the most spectacular view in all of Manuel Antonio. The 1-4 story buildings are embedded into the rainforest and dotted throughout the hilly grounds. Our room was comfortable with modest decorations and clean, especially the bathroom, although we did have some very small ants, mainly on the deck and one tiny baby lizard who visited from time to time. This is the tropics after all. The room was large with a kitchen and full refrigerator, utensils, and dishes. The deck had comfortable chairs and we spent a good deal of relaxing time just rocking and gawking at the post card view. Although we didn't see as many monkees on the grounds as we had hoped, we did see some Capuchin monkees at breakfast and a sloth, many iguanas, and beautiful birds. The vegetation surrounding the buildings is spectacular in scope and variety. The pools are not large but definitely adequate with the adult pool at the Costa Verde II building having a most extraordinary view. The restaurants were excellent and convenient and there are many other choices in the area. The Cantina had live music every night. Cabs and buses come by frequently although we had rented a 4X4 and drove from San Jose, an experience in itself. The hotel staff was very friendly and met every need. Although there were no extra towels for the beach or pool, the hotel did provide wovens mats to borrow for the beach. The gift store was open long hours and provided necessary essentials and internet access for a fee. There was also Wi-Fi access. The requested tours set up by the hotel with local companies all went very well. We did the zip line canopy tour with Canopy Safari, the kayak mangrove tour with Iguana tours and the National park tour with H2O Adventures. Definitely get a guide for the National Park because they are gifted at finding animals, plants, amphibians, and birds that we would have missed completely and filled in so much background about the things we saw. The guides were all friendly, knowledgeable, spoke good English, were concerned about safety, and genuinely tried to meet expectations. The tours all included an excellent home cooked type meal and transportation to and from the hotel. The beaches in the area are all gorgeous with soft sand, warm, clear water and either surf or calm depending on the beach. At least one is known for rip tides, so ask. By the time we left we had pictures of three types of monkees, two kinds of sloths, crocodiles, a spider and snake, gorgeous flowers, tree frogs, and many butterflies and birds. It was a paradise hard to leave and we will be back to Hotel Costa Verde for our next stay. It more than met our expectations.

I stayed at Hotel Costa Verde for 3 nights in March. Our room was spacious and clean. But the best part about it was the amazing and beautiful view we had from our large balcony. I could not have asked for a better view.

The only downfall about the property is that it is spread out and the hills are pretty steep. The restaurants the hotel offers are good, but surprisingly a bit pricey. But the service is great and the staff is friendly.

Overall, Manuel Antonio National Park is incredible! The park is located about a 15-20 min. walk downhill from the hotel. The beaches in the park are amazing. I could not get enough. The water is warm, the sand is white and with a jungle as your scenery, who could ask for more?
