“A wonderful stay in Paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2010

This was our second stay at La Mansion. We visited for the first time this past January
with our Grandson, celebrating his 21st birthday and his college roomate. We were so
impressed and couldn't wait to come back. This time we visited while entertaining friends from the U.S. for the first three nights during Semana Santa (Holy Week). While
I would need a book to mention all of the magnificent things about this hotel, I would like
at this time, to mention several outstanding employees.

Larissa, who we had the pleasure of meeting in January was at the Front Desk for a
great deal of the time we were there on this trip and was also very busy escorting all
of the new "first time" guests through the hotel to familiarize them with the pool area,
the gym, the wonderful Jacques Cousteau Restaurant, the famous Bat Cave Bar, etc.
She does a fabulous job no matter what her duties may be for any particular day.
Diego, a wonderful chef and fantastic server at the new and gorgeous "Open Sky"
dining area where you dine by candelight in a beautiful romantic setting and when I
mentioned to Diego in conversation how my favorite "starter" was escargots, even though it was not on the menu, this wonderful guy ran back to the kitchen and made it
for me. When we ordered the Filet Mignon, two of us said we preferred a Beshamel
Sauce on the steak rather than the sauce they were serving, and of course, Diego
immediately whipped up a fabulous Beshamel right at table side. This guy is not only
a great cook but has a dynamite personality!

Rosalie, the wonderful and personable Reservations Manager, that we also had the
pleasure of meeting in January, unfortunately had been out ill for the first couple of
days of our stay, but we were fortunate when she returned to work on day three and we
had an opportunity to spend some time with her.

Edgar, the Concierge at the front desk was most helpful in advising us with regard
to tours that we wanted to book for our guests and also in letting us know that
when we wanted to do a beach day down at the magnificent Manuel Antonio Beach
(which is probably one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, he advised as to
the La Mansion bus transfers and the times of departure and return, which is a great
benefit to hotel guests.

And last but not least, Damian, who we became great friends with on our last stay,
returned to work on the second day of our stay this time and we just LOVE this guy!
He makes you feel so welcome and loved from the moment you come in the front door
and is always wearing a big friendly smile each and every time you pass the front
desk. Damian is a "real gem."

Well we wanted to make sure we showed our "amigos" on their very first trip ever
to this beautiful country of Costa Rica the very BEST place to stay on the Central
Pacific and they can't wait to come back to La Mansion and who could blame them?

Last but certainly by no means least, "cudo's" to the fabulous Max, the bar manager
at the beautiful La Mansion poool as well as his wonderful staff including Chris and
Jorge and many others, whose names unfortunately I cannot recall.

Most sincerely,

Roz Stanco-Litt and Sam Litt

After spending three days in the very rainy rainforest in La Fortuna, we were thrilled to arrive in the Manuel Antonio Park area which remained hot and sunny throughout our four days there. La Mansion Inn was very nice. The front desk staff welcomed us warmly and showed us around the place. We enjoyed the complementary frozen banana drinks they provided us during our tour. Edgar was very helpful in arranging tours for us and advising us on dining recommendations and nightlife. Our room was spacious, clean, quiet, and comfortable, with a great view of the Pacific. We had one dinner at the hotel (during an electrical black out in the city -- La Mansion has their own generator) and it was very good. We never really visited the pools, the Bat Cave, or the outdoor lounge. The VIP room with free internet access was very useful.
On the downside, the road to La Mansion grows very tiresome because it is so narrow, full of pot-holes and hills, and it's very dusty. Therefore, we couldn't enjoy going for a walk without getting into our car first. We did not enjoy the nearby beach because the ocean floor was very rocky and we hurt our feet. We saw no monkeys, sloths, or lizards anywhere in or around the hotel, as some reviewers had posted.
Overall, we certainly enjoyed our stay at La Mansion but if we returned, we'd probably try someplace else.

Our stay at La Mansion far exceeded our expectations. The room, the view and food were wonderful, but the highlight of our experience was the level of service and personal attention we received from the staff. For example, when the shuttle bus to the beach was late, they not only called us a taxi, but they paid the fare. The attentiveness of the reception and friendliness of the bar and waitstaff was unlike any other hotel we visited. The room was lovely with spa robes on the pillows and a gorgeous view of the cove. They gave us a tour of the property after we checked in. Great pool with a wet bar and breakfast on a terrace where a friendly iguana visited us. The Jacques Cousteau restaurant was very good--love the aquarium with a funny orange fish that followed us around. The Bat Bar is kitschy cool with a three foot-tall door entrance and dead bat encased in glass. My only criticism is the cheesy merchandisey decor, but that's just a matter of taste and it grew on us as part of the fun. Also the road to the hotel from town is a bumpy ride, but they were working on it during our stay so it will probably be smooth before long. We felt that all our needs were fulfilled and we couldn't have felt more welcome as guests. Actually, the treatment was so thoughtful that our experience went beyond what we imagined a hotel could provide.

We had a great stay at La Mansion for 7 nights. The staff went full out to make our stay enjoyable. Even though the roads are horrible, we were provided with shuttle services to and from the beach. You will need a taxi to go out for dinner, but the rates are very low ($8 for 2). The hotel is small (21 rooms) and very quite, which makes for a relaxing stay. The restruarant is a bit expensive, but worth every $. The servers at breakfast are so friendly and the food so good, we never missed it. The hotel will arrange tours, etc and everything is on time. If you are a member of Fraternal Order of Police, La Mansion will give you a special rate. Thanks LaMansion.

We recently stayed at La Mansion Inn and what a wonderful experience it was. La Masion Inn offers beautiful views all around the hotel. The place was nice and clean. The swimming pool has a bar with excellent view. The staff was friendly and courteous. The manager Dustin Adams was very accommodating, friendly and knowledgable about the area. We love the place and would definitely stay again. We recommend this place without hesitation.

The highlight of this hotel for us was the service and views- the front desk was incredibly helpful and the restaurant staff was incredibly helpful in preparing foods that my son could eat due to diet restrictions. The view we had was amazing - the beach and forest were beautiful, and the views were even better from the nice pool area. There was also a nice small beach only a 15 minute walk from the hotel.
That being said, there were a few deficiencies: the sheets were very rough, pilled and uncomfortable due to being very worn; even though the road is not the main drag, the road is right outside the front windows and trucks seem to be going by a lot, which is very noisy; there were never any towels at the pool; and there was a table in our room with a square glass top that I cut myself on due to the sharp edges.
The location is a bit remote from the beaches and park and restaurants on the main drag; next time I think I would try to stay at one of the places with direct beach access.

Thanks for your comments. Please, please, please anyone who notices a deficiency in my hotel that we missed please bring in to my attention. My name is Harry Bodaan and I am the owner of the La Mansion Inn. With 23 rooms and suites we sometimes might miss something. Bring me a worn sheet and you earned yourself a bottle of wine! No towels during operating hours, at the pool ditto!
