We stayed at this hotel in a penthouse for 8 nights. Overall the hotel is very nice but its getting dated. Our room was very spacious, we actually had two rooms (which I didnt know, on our reso it said one room) with very flamboyant decor. The service at the pool and at the bar are excellent. The guy working the bat cave at night is awesome! And I am not talking about the underage guy that 'runs' it- he should not be in there at all. We loved the bat cave bar and were in there all the time. Food was ok, pretty decent for the most part. We had all inclusive till 7pm, we didnt eat there much, there are so many other places to eat and we where more interested in drinks at night, not during the day.
The pool and view are amazing! Which you can swim in 24/7. LOVED the hot tub. This hotel is very intimate and boutique and great for a honeymoon. Often times we were the only ones by the pool for days. The live music at night was great as we could sit on our balcony and listen to it while we played cards and sipped on a beer.
Why its not quite 5 star:
Semi- unprofessionalism with the under age guy in the bar. Also the housekeeping- they literally walked in on me twice without knocking! The "turn down" service is them giving you more towels a snickers bar. They didnt even take our dirty plates from the morning!
No 24hr room service- couldnt even get a beer at 11pm on a friday night!!
No other amenities.
At one point I bet this was an amazing, happening hotel that all the stars stayed at (they are very proud of this), however I think the owner is more interested in his "exclusive" bar next door, that no guest are allow in, than the actual hotel. There are major improvements needed for it to be a 5 star hotel again.
Overall great place to stay if you can get it for around $125 a night.
*I would suggest having a car there, just cause the beach and other restaurants are up a windy road and no safe to walk around at night.
All room have a lovely view of the bay

As owner of La Mansion I appreciate your comments but feel obliged to respond to some of your observations. The “under age guy” at the bar is actually the son of another hotel owner and the family are close personal friends of mine. He (and others) is doing a food and beverage student internship at my hotel before he is leaving for Germany at the end of the month to continue his studies in the hospitality field. He is not a regular employee but is learning the trade under the supervision of other staff. In regards to not being able to get a beer at 11PM at night we offer bar service from 11 AM until 11 PM at night and every room has a full mini bar menu for guests that want to stock their mini bar for 24 hour availability. Depending on how many people are at the bar around that time we stay open until the last person leaves. If there is nobody at that time we close the bar. As a small boutique property we have been rated a 5-Star property with “limited service” opposed to mega 5-Star hotels that offer “extended service” with 24 hour bars and restaurants. For the few people that wish a drink after that hour our night receptionist is usually able to accommodate our late guests. Our main amenities are our flora and fauna, personalized service and superb ocean and jungle views.

We stopped our Gym and Spa service because we found it more advantageous for us and our guests to offer these professional services through an alliance with a nearby Spa and Gym establishment. The Gym and Spa Business is getting so advanced that we found that it was hard to keep up with and decided to put this service in the hands of true professionals instead of us with our small boutique hotel continuously trying to keep up with the latest in this specialized field.
As to the “exclusive bar” next door where no guests of the La Mansion Inn have access you are correct. This “exclusive bar where I am more interested in” is actually part of my home. We are currently working on a new concept where this bar would actually become part of the new Contempo Hotel scheduled to open on May 1, 2013. This small more modern, contemporary exclusive 6 room/suite Contempo Hotel would actually cater to a different niche market clientele.
The issue of our housekeeping staff entering your suite without knocking has been addressed with the staff and is part of the regular training routine to always knock before entering a room for service. Just to be sure we have in-room door latches for the protection of the privacy of our guests since sometimes our guests do not hear the housekeeper’s knock.
