After staying in many hotels in CR over the years - this was the best. Top notch service, smiling faces and top notch views. We loved our stay here and recommend it for all. It's easy to park here and the hotel is on the road with all the other 4-5 star places ( mariposa, palomar, etc).

We stayed in Penthouse 1 and then 2 due to a switch. It's the only way to go! Booked through travelocity with ease -

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights and had an excellent time. The hotel is beautiful with very nice rooms and gorgeous views. The staff is very nice and attentive and we did not have any problems whatsoever. The breakfasts were included with our stay and they are delicious! We ate dinner at the hotel restaurant one night and that was very good as well. The only drawback is that the hotel is not walking distance to anything but a small beach (which is nice, but not very exciting). Manuel Antonio Beach and National Park is about a $7 cab ride from the hotel, though there is a free shuttle to and from the hotel that runs 4X a day. The only other minor critique we have is that the only food available for room service is from the restaurant menu, which is a bit fancy- so when my husband and I were looking to just order something simple to our room, we ended up having to spend $100 on the restaurant menu. Other than that, we highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for a nice romantic getaway!

My boyfriend and I stayed only for one night because we were traveling all over Costa Rica for a short time. I have traveled to many places in and outside of America and I have to say this was the best hotel I've ever stayed out. The view was incredible, we saw Manual Antonio Park outside of our glass doors, incredible mountain and ocean vistas. There were monkeys and birds all around the hotel, a very spacious patio/lawn area outside of our room, with two comfortable rocking chairs so we could watch the wildlife. The room was decorated very nicely and was clean. We had a superb breakfast, lunch and dinner. The staff was unbelievably attentive and friendly and helped us book rental cars to travel throughout Costa Rica and cabs to go the park. There was a shuttle bus available but it wasn't very reliable so we took a cab to the park, which is only five minutes away. There is a beach that you can walk to that is about 10 minutes away. We got a bottle of champagne and fruit when we arrived, for no reason! Damien was a wonderful host and the hotel was the best ever! I can't wait to go back to Costa Rica, just to stay at this place!

We had a junior suite located near some power lines and above barking dogs that belong to the owner -- we suggest that you book a room closer to the pool to get a good view of the ocean and to insure that you will sleep at night. Service wasn't great. Here are a few examples: (1) asked the for an all day fishing expedition -- "of course!" they replied but never got back to us (2) ordered nachos for a snack and they gave us wild mushrooms -- and didn't offer to exchange the plate (3) front desk offered to change our room (just before lunch) to one with a better ocean view but gave it up to a person checking without telling us. (4) had us go on a tour without telling us to carry a bathing suite -- and the tour operator told us that the hotel gets a healthy commission so they should give out the proper information. It's obviously a pretty hotel -- and yes movie stars have been there -- there is even a wall of pictures with the owner Harry Bodaan smiling alongside them. We assumed that he is a good guy although one of the staff said, "Only when he is asleep." Enough said.

Every guest is given a welcome letter and asked to contact me or one of our staff immediately so any problem may be resolved right away. We offer a money back guarantee on food and beverage service and do not question the validity of a comment. Neither I nor any of my supervisors that I have talked to was made aware of any of the operational problems that were described. Our policy is to log any comments. We are a small business and for that reason we take all comments very serious. Yes, I have 3 street dogs that I took in but they live indoors and I assure you that they do not keep me or anyone awake at night. Power and telephone lines are a necessity in Costa Rica but do not block any of our views. And yes, rumor has it that I am a nice guy even if I am awake and you don't even have to be a celebrity! In any event, if you were a guest and stayed with us, I do apologize for any inconvenience and offer you a free stay, subject to availability, as a thank you for your comment.
