“WONDERFUL HOTEL”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2013

We spent three nights at this hotel and it really surpassed our expectations! The staff was very friendly and courteous. Our room was spacious, clean and had a great patio with an expansive view of the Pacific Ocean. It was brightly painted in cheerful, tropical colors. Our room was one of four in a building that was built into the side of a hill and you descended on a path with a rock staircase to get to it. The rooms were surrounded by rainforest, which provided both a gorgeous setting and privacy. We woke one day to the sound of monkeys calling to each other. The breakfast at Si Como No was delicious. It included a buffet with your choice of eggs, french toast, pancakes, fruits, pastries etc. It was served in a lovely open air restaurant called "the Rico Tico Grill." We had three dinners at this restaurant as well as three breakfasts and found the food to be excellent, each time. The hotel also has a seafood restaurant. During the day there was a shuttle, from the hotel, that would take you on a short ride down to the beach and nearby Manuel Antonio National Park. For those who wish to swim, Si Como No has two pools, one for families and another for adults only. Each night a movie is shown in the main building. When we arrived, we received a free entry to the Butterfly Botanical Garden owned by, and across the street from, the hotel. We had a chance to take some wonderful photos there. We also took a night tour of Manuel Antonio Nature Park and Wildlife Refuge which is also owned by, and across the street from, the hotel. This tour offered a great chance to photograph various frogs, which are nocturnal, including the Red Eyed Tree Frog. Crocodiles are also on the tour. The best part of this hotel, from my point of view, is that they really make you feel welcome.

I was here at the end of January as part of a tour group. This hotel is built on the side of the hill and every room has a view of the water. The rooms are quite large and comfortable, with a patio where you can enjoy the beautiful ocean views. I also enjoyed watching and running into some of the wild life on the property.

The staff is excellent, they are extremely helpful and very friendly and accommodating. I was looking for a particular piece of art work, and pretty much everyone I talked to was very helpful in helping me get the particular piece. Just a great staff! The meals at this hotel were also extremely good. I did like that there were 2 sets of swimming pools, one for the families with kids and the other for adults only.

The location is convenient to other good restaurants. You do have to take a short bus ride to the beach, but its pretty straight forward. Another interesting part of the property is the butterfly garden. Very tranquil and the beautiful butterflies are breath taking.

All in all I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and would definitely come back and recommend it.

Husband and I had a blast. Typically we stay at all inclusive resorts but decided to go the hotel route. It was way more enjoyable. It was not not to have to deal with crowds or loud annoying entertainment staff. If you're looking to get away and relax this is the place.

The hotel grounds were beautiful and rooms were VERY clean. The adult pool and breakfast wait staff were egaging and quick give me ideas on where to go. I

This is the place to stay when visiting this region of Costa Rica. The hotel itself is beyondbeautiful in description. The grounds are immaculate yet seem remote, natural, and wild. The landscaping is gorgeous, as are the pools, decks, lobby, and surrounding jungle. Wildlife is abundant, including white faced monkeys, lizards, tropical birds, racoons, and nutria. The food at the two restaurants on site was the most delicious on our trip. The complimentary breakfast is superior. The pool areas are stunningly beautiful and offers a swim up bar, a waterfall area, and a slide forthe kids. The view from this hotel can only be described as unreal. Even looking at it in person seems like a postcard instead of reality. The staff will go above and beyond to make your stay unforgettable. Transportation is easily arranged for outings or to the airport, reservations for dinner can be arranged through the concierge, the staff will confirm your excursions, and a free shuttle leaves each hour to the national park and will also pick you up. There is no doubt that we would return.

Room Tip: Higher rooms have the best view. There is not much difference in a standard and deluxe room.

The rooms are right in the rainforest. Awesome views! The grounds are beautiful, pools and hot tubs peaceful. The food is terrific. You can walk to many restaurants and shops nearby although its a bit hilly.
There's a movie theater on site with a snack bar. The beach is also a short drive away.

We came here for the first time 5 years ago in May for our Honeymoon and had a blast even though it was extremely rainy! Our Costa Rican friends advised us to come back in their summer time, so we celebrated our 5 year anniversary a little early and returned in February. We thought this place was beautiful 5 years ago and it still is breathtaking! Just like last time, we spent a lot of time on our room balcony (though this time we had this spectacular balcony that wrapped around a little!). You wake up to howling monkeys, birds, iguanas, geckos....love it!

The staff at the front desk is helpful, friendly and prompt. The restaurant staff treats you very well. We remembered Carlos from 5 years ago. He is always smiling and very helpful and easy to talk to.

We LOVE the food and haven't ventured out to any of the other neighboring restaurants. The breakfast is included (which is a big plus). The breakfast is local Costa Rican food and is amazing! Rice, beans, sweet plantains, fresh bakery treats, fresh fruit, fresh squeezed juices...yum. Since we had been there 5 years ago, they moved Claro Que Si restaurant up near the road. We're guessing this is even better for business as it will be easier for people who aren't staying at the resort to walk in as well. The food is beautifully plated and fresh and delicious.

Don't miss happy hour- 4-6pm with great drink specials! The pina colada was perfect! And our favorite drink there is Monkey Business! We keep trying to make it at home...but it's just not the same.

The nature park and butterfly garden across the street is included and worth a trip! Plenty of hiking paths.

Love the layout of this resort, you really feel like you're away from it all.
As we walked from the resort down to the beach (about .5miles down hill-- a very nice walk!), we noticed that over the last 5 years, things are being built up, but still it's a great area and Si Como No makes you feel like you're still in the jungle and away from it all.

The only negative I would say is that some of the outside buildings need a little love and care...just some minor fixes and updates.
Also, would LOVE a fitness center of some sort!

Dear LeneyB:
It's very encouraging when an guest finds their second experience with us as great as the first visit. Perhaps that explains why we continue to enjoy hosting repeat guests and their generous referrals. We believe part of that experience is because our brand of Natural Hospitality is based upon "good natured" hotel staff who treat our guests as welcome visitors and returning often as friends. We appreciate your recommendations and look forward to your third visit to include other Greentique experiences, including Villa Blanca Cloud Forest Hotel in San Ramón and Aguila de Osa Inn near Corcovado National Park.

We thought this would be a fun luxurious hotel after visiting Monteverde. In more basic accomidations. The staff were curt and at times rude and as it had all inclusive rooms we were treated as second class even though our room was $250.00 a night. There was no live entertainment even though we stayed over a weekend just movies playing. If this had been our only experience of Costa Rica we would not have wanted to return but we so enjoyed other areas the people food and beautiful landscape.

Room Tip: We did not attend the spa or fitness center

Dear Ken W
Fortunately the great majority of our "Guest Comments" are very encouraging regarding our staff as both "friendly & helpful" as supported on this fórum and the thousands of Guest Survey we read every year. In fact the very same week of this review, our surveys by our guests had a completely favorable review of the property, at least until we read this one. However we can't always please everyone although we do our best to deliver the value our guests expect to the best of our ability. With so many activities offered, both on and off the resort, we were also quite surprised there was not much to do. With three Happy Hours to choose from, a complete Spa menu, two popular restaurants and two swimming pools to choose from along with dozens of guided tours offered, miles of sandy beaches and the National Park and our private Nature Park exhibits and Wildlife Refuge, we're just not sure why we fell so far short of expectations.
Sincerely,
Dennys Quiros
