“Fantastic resort with great location and amenities”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2011

Stayed at Si Como No for a weekend while in Costa Rica on business on advice from our in-country business partners. Had a wonderful room overlooking the Pacific and the jungle below. Great restaurant and pools and comfortable rooms. Separate outdoor public area for WiFi access worked well since the WiFi signal does not work inside the room I was given. Very friendly staff and the property was very well-maintained and clean. Si Como No is very close to Manuel Antonio Park and the tour companies we used picked us up at the hotel with no problem. The hotel has its own very cool movie theater and a spa as well. Highly recommend this amazing hotel.

First of all, the views and location were amazing. I loved the look of this hotel - the grounds are stunning and make up for somewhat smaller room sizes. The staff was extremely helpful - the rooms weren't anything fancy, but adequate, clean - everything you need - balcony is a definite plus, too. Please note ! There was not an elevator anything of the sort and the rooms are all below the check-in area; the hotel is basically on a cliff...so, if you have a heavier bag, you or the staff will be toting it to the room and there are quite a few stairs. But I'd definitely stay there again !!

This hotel is fantastic - a little dated - but still fantastic! I loved the grounds, including the plants and all the reptiles throughout the grounds. If you're fascinated by reptiles, this place is AMAZING. If they scare you, you may want to steer clear. The restaurants were amazing, the staff was extremely service-oriented, and overall we loved our time here.

Room Tip: As to stay closer to the pool or the lobby. Some of the buildings are quite a hike from the rest of...

Si Como No is a lovely hotel with a perfect location for nature lovers and those seeking adventure. Must hike Manuel Antonio with a guide from Iguana Tours to oberseve and get great photos of the birds and animals of the rainforest. They also offer great activities such as white water rafting and zip lining!! Si Como No has their own butterfly farm which holds many species. Also a must, is the tour to Santa Juana where you will hike, fish, swim in a waterfall, and ride horses. It's a great experience! There is a local restaurant (Aqua Azul) on top of the hill with a great view of the water. Also, down from Si Como No is another good restaurant/bar (L'Avion) which was an airplane that was recovered from Nicaragua. If you enjoy this hotel, you may want to make reservations for Villa Blanca (in the cloude forest - near San Ramon). It is about one hour from the airport in San Jose. You may like to spend a night or two there before flying out.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view! (Although I think almost all have a good view)

My family visited Costa Rica in Feb 2011, and felt pampered at Si Como No. My husband and I had a big room w/ balcony & a convenient door to our 3 daughters' adjacent room. Our rooms had lovely views of the ocean & sunset. Air conditioning worked well & made it possible to sleep at night (it doesn't cool off much at night on the coast.) Our rooms were furnished w/ comfortable sofas, coffee table, big comfortable beds, & mini fridges that were stocked w/ free water & soda. Bathrooms were equally luxurious.

The grounds at Si Como No are worth a wander, as they are full of tropical plants & flowers & views of the ocean. There are 2 bars next to the 2 pools. The smaller pool has a water slide & was used mostly by families (although there were very few kids there during our stay.) The larger pool has lots of lounge chairs & a swim up bar w/ 2-for-1 deals nightly.

There is a movie lounge on the premises showing recent movies nightly. We especially appreciated the mini bus shuttle that delivered us easily & quickly to the public beach & the entrance to Manuel Antonio park.

Breakfast is free in the smaller bar area - outside seating, lots of choices, good Tico coffee. The Si Como No dinner restaurant was surprisingly disappointing though, despite its great setting & live acoustic music. Food was only so-so and their wine selection was mediocre (but then, we're food snobs!) We usually walked to nearby restaurants for dinner & lunch. Walking around the little town was fun, & we saw a mama monkey & her youngster cavorting in a huge tree on one of our evening walks!

Room Tip: We liked the balconies!

This is more upscale and secure than the local surf hotels in Quepos. The hotel has it's own wildlife animal park with rare frogs, butterflies, flowers and even crokodiles. Make sure that you see it. The hotel is just a few minutes drive from the famous Manuel Antonio State Park which is an amazing park to hike in if you love nature, such as iguanas, 3 toed sloths. Make sure to rent a guide or you will miss a lot. The food is very good. The rooms are spacious. We even had a 6.1 earthquake and a hurricane and were none the worse for it. We didn't even lose power and there was no damage to the hotel at all. The pool is very pleasant, they could have more lounges. The view from the pool was an amazing cliffside view of the ocean. Most of the hotels in the area are on a bluff so you have to walk down the hill to use the beach. I would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: I chose to have the hotels pick me up from each desination rather than renting a car or taking the p...

I was generally disappointed with this hotel. Not because it was horrible but I had huge expectations after having stayed at Arenal Nayara Hotel & Gardens. This hotel is right off the main highway. It is built into the mountain which makes it difficult to traverse the property. There is no elevator so you need to transport your luggage downhill/uphill, which includes several stairs. Pack light. This also means that you need to go up and down the same paths to get to the restaurants, pools, etc. The rooms were so-so. Although the bedrooms had sliding doors, there were no screens. This made them useless unless you wanted mosquitoes visiting at night. The windows and doors did not have great seals so we were visited by a couple of lizards. The bedrooms did not have any TVs or internet access. There was only one area that internet access was available and it was around the kiddie pool area. Don’t attempt to use your laptop at the café because it is not allowed. Several signs kindly remind you of this. Cell phone access was non-existent on the property. I had to stand in front of the hotel on the sidewalk area to get any signal. The restaurants were mediocre and expensive.

Now for the pluses, there were two pools, one for the kids and one for the adults (18+) which was nice as there were plenty of kids at the hotel. Wildlife is all around. One morning you could see monkeys swinging from the trees, while some other days you would see Tucans just hanging out. There is also a spa and movie theatre. I did not try either one. The movie theatre is open to the public and not exclusive to hotel guests. They have a complimentary shuttle to / from downtown. The last shuttle is 4:30PM so plan on taking a cab back if you want to have dinner there. Downtown has a lot of shops, restaurants and the public beach area. Downtown wasn’t the safest area so I would be wary of traveling alone. The beach was okay. If you really want to enjoy the beach, pay the entrance fee to Manuel Antonio National Park. The park is pretty incredible and has great beaches that are secluded from the public. Even if you don’t want to use the beach; the park is worth the visit. The hotel is within walking distance to several restaurants and shops so it very convenient. Since the restaurants were not great, we ventured out to several local spots. This is an okay hotel if you don’t plan on staying at the resort for most of it otherwise I would recommend Arenas Del Mar which is a beachfront property.
