“A Place To Relax”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2013 via mobile

Gorgeous setting in a tropical paradise with monkeys , iguanas, and parrots visiting everyday. The staff is outstanding and they really do care if you're happy. We had a major suite but all of the rooms looked great and it was always super quiet at night. This is our first night back in L.A. and I already miss Parador. We'll be back. SOON. Thank you Parador

We had lunch at this hotel recently. We sat on the patio but the view was blocked from the patio roofs below. Better food and view at La Mariposa. We love the area and have always been happy wherever we've stayed!!

Pura Vida! We are bit puzzled about your comment as none of our restaurants provide a patio for lunch or are located on a higher level where patio roofs below block the views. In fact, all our restaurants offer panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and the tropical forest.

My husband and I stopped in for a few drinks and shopped in the gift shop. The hotel was beautiful. The service was excellent and the drinks were great, we sat by the pool area and it was breathtaking.
We stayed at La Mariposa and we were content but the property had maintenance issues with a/c and leaking plumbing. We put up with that and even let a $ 20.00 dollar tip for the front deck but travels beware of La Mariposa they decided to bill us an additional front desk tip of $ 75.00. In all my travels I have never had this happen. Just a tip next time I will stay at Parador!

Thank you for your insightful comments. We always aim to please and are happy to hear that our service was friendly and accommodating. We all take great pride in making sure our guests’ and visitors' needs are always met. While we can’t take credit for Manuel Antonio’s spectacular sunsets, we will take credit for the views that the hotel offers! Thanks again and we hope to see you in the future—but this time as a guest! Pura Vida!

This is the second time I've stayed at the Parador. Both times have been memorable. The first time, my husband and I celebrated our anniversary and stayed in one of the ocean view suites with whirlpool bath on the balcony. The most recent stay was with a girlfriend and stayed in one of the deluxe rooms which was very nice as well. The best kept secret is the infinity pool and small Jacuzzi up above where the suites are. It is an adult only pool and there is a restaurant/bar right there as well. Most people tend to hang out at the pool with swim up bar, but the other two adult only pools are not to be missed! Buffet breakfast had a nice variety of items to choose from. It was a short walk to the Monkey trail that led down to a nice swimmable beach. Manuel Antonio Parque is only about a 15 minute drive from here. Everything about this hotel was enjoyable.

Room Tip: If you can afford a bit more $$, stay in one of the rooms facing the ocean with a tub on the balcony...

We went to Hotel Parador for our honeymoon and it was fabulous. The executive summary is that the service was extraordinary, the hotel was beautiful and well-maintained, its surrounding natural environment was so amazing I had to see it to believe it, and the food and drinks were excellent.

Hotel Parador picked us up at the airport in San Jose (a 3-hour drive from the hotel), and at the end of our stay they returned us to San Jose and dropped us at the hotel where we were to spend our last few days in Costa Rica.

Our "Vista suite" room was beautiful itself, but also had a breathtaking view of the Pacific, of Parador's lush rainforest surroundings, and even of the infinity pool, which changed colors every few seconds at night. From just outside the door to our room, we could watch monkeys playing in the trees just 50 yards away.

The first full day we were there, they called our room and asked if we'd like a reservation for dinner. I hadn't figured we'd need one, since it wasn't high tourist season and we seemed to have the whole place to ourselves, but I said yes anyway. We had a wonderful dinner, and returned to our room to find that they had put flower petals and candles on the floor of our room, leading out to a bubble bath in the whirlpool on our room's balcony. It was very romantic and a complete surprise to us.

As mentioned by others, it is a bit difficult to get anywhere from the hotel, as it isn't within walking distance of anything, EXCEPT for a wonderful little beach where the water temperature was just perfect and there weren't any riptides because it was in a small bay off the Pacific.

We had booked and paid for a package in the Vista suite for our first 6 nights, but our last 2 nights were to be in a lower-tier, less expensive room. However, 2 days before we were scheduled to switch rooms, the front desk called to tell us we didn't need to switch to the lower-tier room - we could spend our last 2 nights in the same room at no extra charge.

Room Tip: I highly recommend the Vista Suites. While expensive, they do have a few exclusive benefits, and th...

We are so pleased you took the time to write this review! Thank you for singling out one of the most important aspects of Parador: the service. Our staff is truly happy to help create the best vacation experience possible for our guests and we love to spoil you the best they can. We hope that you do return to Costa Rica in the not too distant future. The views, the wildlife, and all of our staff will be happy to welcome you back!

This hotel is Manuel Antonio is a nice four star and although we did enjoy our stay here we were disappointed with aspects of the resort. The resort is sprawling on a hill and is a taxi ride from the “town” which is fine as the views are nice. Although the resort was at very low occupancy (during the rainy season), we were not upgraded to a better room with a view. Although our Tropical room had a balcony it overlooked the terrace area of the suites pool so we had to have our drapes closed much of the time. The overall décor look of the resort is more Pirates of the Caribbean than tropical. The two pools were nice with good views.
Food was fine but not great so we went off the resort 2 of our 3 nights. It’s a taxi ride to any other dining options. The Concierge was very sweet and helpful.
The spa was being renovated so we got a reduced rate for a couples massage in the Presidential Suite. The massages were good but the location made it not a special experience.
I would have liked to be able for rate it between Average and Very Good.
