Me and my fiancé in our late 20s/early 30s were there for 5 days in mid February. Absolutely stunning location with beautiful views. Upon arriving we were greeted with drinks and checked in quickly. There were strawberries and cream waiting for us in our room. The service, helpfulness, attentiveness and friendliness of the staff were top notch. The room was good, no problems and pretty much what you expect. Food was good, a bit pricey but still fair although you can find some great meals in town for less at restaurants such as The Great Escape which is a nice outing. The complimentary breakfast was much better than expected and included a buffet, omelet station and great coffee. Monkey trail was a nice addition to the resort and while we really didn't see as much wild life as we expected there it was really interesting. With several trips to the trail at different times of the day we saw no monkeys, a sloth from far off and a raccoon. We did see monkeys at the pool bar though and howler monkeys beside one of the buildings. The beach was out of the way but really beautiful and the distance and uphill return hike really can't be helped since the hotel is built on cliffs. The snorkelling at the beach was great and the same place the catamarans take the tours to snorkel. While the hotel was great and I can definitely see how many people love it I also agree with previous comments that it is a bit cheesy and doesn't feel as tropical as I would like with its Spanish colonial theme and suits of armour, swords and shields. The atmosphere was a bit too uptight there for me which some travellers may prefer. One complaint I have was lack of ashtrays or even areas where smoking is permitted. It's great to think that providing neither of these will keep people from smoking but that is not the fact especially when people are on vacation. Smokers will smoke anyways and if there are no ashtrays people will throw butts on the ground, in plant pots, on top of garbage lids etc.
