“Excellent service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2013 via mobile

Me and my fiancé in our late 20s/early 30s were there for 5 days in mid February. Absolutely stunning location with beautiful views. Upon arriving we were greeted with drinks and checked in quickly. There were strawberries and cream waiting for us in our room. The service, helpfulness, attentiveness and friendliness of the staff were top notch. The room was good, no problems and pretty much what you expect. Food was good, a bit pricey but still fair although you can find some great meals in town for less at restaurants such as The Great Escape which is a nice outing. The complimentary breakfast was much better than expected and included a buffet, omelet station and great coffee. Monkey trail was a nice addition to the resort and while we really didn't see as much wild life as we expected there it was really interesting. With several trips to the trail at different times of the day we saw no monkeys, a sloth from far off and a raccoon. We did see monkeys at the pool bar though and howler monkeys beside one of the buildings. The beach was out of the way but really beautiful and the distance and uphill return hike really can't be helped since the hotel is built on cliffs. The snorkelling at the beach was great and the same place the catamarans take the tours to snorkel. While the hotel was great and I can definitely see how many people love it I also agree with previous comments that it is a bit cheesy and doesn't feel as tropical as I would like with its Spanish colonial theme and suits of armour, swords and shields. The atmosphere was a bit too uptight there for me which some travellers may prefer. One complaint I have was lack of ashtrays or even areas where smoking is permitted. It's great to think that providing neither of these will keep people from smoking but that is not the fact especially when people are on vacation. Smokers will smoke anyways and if there are no ashtrays people will throw butts on the ground, in plant pots, on top of garbage lids etc.

My wife and I spent 4 nights there. We took their eco-package. This being our 1st time to Costa Rica it was a great way to see the eco-tourism. From the get go you had a person helping you out every step of the way. We celebrated our 10 year anniversary there and the staff did everything to make it as romantic and pleasant as possible for us. I was able to reserve their private room for dinner for a nominal fee I was able to enjoy a romantic dinner with my wife. We got the vista suite which was really nice over looking the ocean and with a jacuzzi tub. The room had a huge TV, king size bed, beautiful bathroom, wet bar, and a couch. I would highly recommend this, it is the farthest away from the main restaurant, but the walk to and from is a nice one. My only complaint was that their was only one restaurant open for dinner.
We got to enjoy animals, iguanas, birds, monkeys, and land crab. All in all it was a great place, quiet and beautiful.

Room Tip: Choose the vista suite, the extra money is worth it.

We are so happy to hear about your experience including the romantic Vista Suite with the Jacuzzi tub overlooking the ocean to our natural habitat – iguanas, monkeys, birds, etc. We hope that next time you visit us you enjoy dining at one of our other three restaurants.
We hope to welcome you back to celebrate your next anniversary. Pura Vida!

The moment you arrive at the Hotel Parador and step into the lobby you know that you're someplace special. This is the place for those who want to experience the authentic beauty and flavor of Costa Rica. The staff welcomes you with lovely amenities upon arrival and they immediately make you feel comfortable and welcomed. The grounds are spectacular: beautiful pools, walking paths with monkeys, and a ocean view that is out of this world. The food is delicious, and the breakfast buffet is a nice mix of Costa Rican and traditional fare that will please everyone. Service is first class at the restaurant where they make sure you are happy and well served. Be sure to have a lovely lunch at the second floor restaurant that overlooks the ocean, and has a lovely pool that attracts the most colorful birds. Enjoy happy hour on the patio where you can mingle with other guest and relax after an eventful day.

Our hotel room was a beautifully furnished suite with an ocean view. Most days we were welcomed to the Costa Rican morning with the sound of howler monkeys in the jungle outside our terrace. One morning on our way to breakfast, we were treated to the antics of a troupe of white-faced monkeys lounging and playing on a stone wall. With such amazing grounds, you may not want to leave the premises, but be sure to take the many day trips that are offered. We really enjoyed the guided National Park tour, kayaking in the mangroves, and a great catamaran ride. We took our teenage daughter with us on this trip, and she had a spectacular time. We all fell in love with Costa Rica. The weather was perfect! March is their dry season.

We recently spent a week at the Hotel Parador and were impressed by the wonderful staff. For the entire week we never encountered anyone who didn’t have a smile, wasn’t helpful and wasn’t proud of the hotel. The grounds are lush, beautifully manicured and extensive. The monkey trails are a good way to get exercise and see various types of wildlife, e.g., sloths, monkeys and birds. We stayed in a premium plus room and loved the view of the pools and the ocean. The shuttle to Manuel Antonio Park and the beach was an added bonus. Best of all were the tours arranged at the hotel activity desk. We took the night hike on the property (great), the Manuel Antonio Park tour with Elias (a knowledgeable, friendly guide), and the mangrove boat tour which was idyllic. All guides were proud of their country and eager to share facts and point out nature. We spent some time at the adult pool, which is most relaxing after a day of touring. A few times we were presented with cool, herbal-scented washcloths and were served skewers of delicious fruit. The breakfast buffet is varied and plentiful and the omelet lady is accommodating. All waiters were efficient and friendly, always with a smile. There is a team spirit at this resort which I have not experienced anywhere else in our travels, and it was nice to feel welcomed. Shirley, the concierge, was ready to help with restaurant suggestions and reservations. The BBQ buffet dinner at the hotel was excellent and had a variety of foods to please anyone. We noticed that there were people of all ages enjoying the hotel, having the choice of being active touring and hiking or relaxing at the pools or beaches. Without a doubt, we hope to return.

Room Tip: Premium Plus rooms have beautiful views.

We had a Vista Suite with king bed and it was beautiful. I would warn people the garden rooms are not near as nice. We had friends in a garden room and it might as well been a super 8 room with a tube TV and dated furnishings. Our Vista Suite had a balcony with a Jacuzzi bath tub, flat screen television, bar, coffee maker, recessed ceiling with lights, a beautiful ocean view, a tiled walk in shower with rain shower head, and many more luxuries getting tired of typing.
The grounds had 3 pool areas which included an adult only pool and a pool exclusively for suite renters. Nature trail provided vistas of the Pacific Ocean, birds monkeys and sloth.
The breakfast buffet was nice, the dinner buffet was average, and the a la carte lunch we had was excellent I would definitely stay here again. The concierge named Shirley was especially helpful.

The hotel grounds are beautiful and the staff is amazing. The only reason I gave this hotel 4 stars instead of 5 is because I was not as impressed with the rooms. We had booked a Garden room with a king size bed since my husband and I were on a romantic vacation and did not need separate beds. Upon our arrival, we were upgraded to a garden suite which had 2 double beds. We appreciated the upgrade but weren't sure about the 2 beds so we checked out the garden room with the king size bed. The garden room was disgusting. It had a terrible smell, the lights were not working, the bathroom was dated and did not look clean, and the air conditioner was very loud. We immediately decided to forgo the king bed for a nicer room. I would not recommend booking a garden room...ever. We were very grateful for the upgrade. The garden plus room was nice, but definitely nothing to brag about. I was very surprised by the rooms based on the hotel grounds, restaurants, and exterior of the buildings. It did not matter as much since we did not spend much time in our rooms. This hotel has beautiful walking paths and is a short ride into town. We saw monkeys, lizards, beautiful birds, and even porcupines outside of our room-just amazing! You can walk to the beach from the hotel as well, but I would recommend going to the beach in Manuel Antonio since the beach nearby was very rocky. The food was very good and we enjoyed the breakfast buffet. I cannot say enough good things about the staff-all very pleasant! The pools are great as well and it's nice that the adult pool is open later. We loved our stay and would definitely come back again-we would just want to pay extra for a nicer room.

Room Tip: Do not select a garden room. I would even recommend one tier above garden plus.

I was hear while they were filming Little People, Big World. If it's good enough for a reality celebrity, it's good enough for me! The best part of the resort was not the incredible views, not the delicious food, but Gerardo at the swim up bar. This hotel was BEAUTIFUL and only a 5 minute car ride to the Manuel Antonio park entrance. Would highly recommend and I'm a bit of a hotel snob.
