“Beautiful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2013

We stayed here over the New Year's Holiday. The rooms are stunning, with a beautiful view from our balcony. The food was very good - not quite excellent, although I felt the Parador had the hotel coffee during our stay in Costa Rica. Staff friendly. Highly recommend!

Room Tip: Ask for an oceanview room that overlooks the pools.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2013

Stayed here for 5 nights with my husband to celebrate his birthday. We were both very happy with the choice to stay here. We paid the extra money (got a deal on jetsetter) for the upgrade to the suite and it was well worth it. The room was chic and extremely modern; it reminded me of nice hotels that we have stayed at in LA. We had a beautiful ocean view from our balcony and a jacuzzi on the balcony to top it off. The hotel overall has all of the amenities of a large resort, but the feel is way more personalized. There are 3 pools, 2 are very attractive infinity pools with ocean views, the 3rd could use some updating but is not a bad choice when the others are more crowded. I had a sprained ankle while there and used the golf cart service often that was provided to get around the grounds. This helped a lot, and was very reliable and fast. The hotel is basically located in the rainforest. We took some walks on the trails around the grounds on our own and saw monkeys, sloths and lots of different amphibians. This is not uncommon, as we would sometimes see monkeys on our way to breakfast. This was a great benefit for my husband who loves to see and photograph the animals.

The activity center is well managed. I think the person who helped us was named Roberto- he was great. He actually was the one who pointed out some sloths to us. We were very grateful! There are tons of options for activities. We did the sunset boat cruise, the 10 in 1 zipline tour and the national park tour. The 10 in 1 was great. For the boat cruise, we ended up being on the boat with a large group of early 20s, and they turned it into a party boat; fine if thats what you are looking for but wasnt exactly what we had in mind so it was a little disappointing. Also, there was not much to see while snorkling off the boat. The sunset was amazing nonetheless. The national park tour was good, the guide from hotel parador made a big difference. After the tour in the national park we spent the afternoon at the beach in the park, and it was beautiful, and not busy at all.

We also used the spa services at the hotel which were good. Overall, the service at the hotel was very good and personal. We were always greeted by name wherever we went on the grounds. All of the staff spoke English well, which made everything easy.

There is a cove beach very close to the hotel. You can walk there, but due to my ankle, we opted for the golf cart service. It takes 5 min to get there. It is small, but very pretty and a good option. Not crowded, as its mostly hotel guests.

To get to the hotel we used the service they provide from the airport. This was definitely pricey, (i think it was $300 roundtrip). We used this instead of renting a car just for the ease of use, and because we didnt feel like driving for 3 hours after being on a plane for 6. On the way there the driver did not speak much english but was very nice and stopped along the way for us to pick up things at the store, and he also took some photos for us at scenic lookouts. He also stopped so we could take pictures at a river that was full of crocodiles- very cool. We had a great driver on the way back who spotted several animals, including the almost extinct Macauw, and also stopped so we could take pictures.

The only thing that went slightly wrong on our trip was that on the reservation, I was told they would decorate our room as a surprise for my husband's birthday. They forgot to do this early on, but I called them to remind them and when we got back from dinner there were birthday balloons in the room.

The restaurant at the hotel was good but there are better options. We went to Kapi Kapi for my husband's birthday and that was very good. The breakfast that's included with your stay is a nice touch. Lots of options and includes hot and cold foods.

I would highly recommend this hotel. The staff go above and beyond to make sure you are happy, it is a very pretty place, the room was great, and they have everything you need and want.

Room Tip: Stay in the suites which are excellent. I'm not sure if the standard rooms are as nice because t...

The hotel grounds are beautiful with amazing views of the ocean. Staff is very helpful and polite. Food and drinks are very good at a good price. Would definitely recommend renting a car if you stay at this hotel because it is a little far from beaches, restaurants and shops. The rooms are outdated and the air conditioning unit doesn't work very well. Also, the free wifi does not work in the rooms. Overall good stay.

Nice hotel, beautiful views and beautiful grounds. Staff generally unhelpful. The complimentary minibus into Manuel Antonio village/national park was a nice touch but the bus driver was pretty strict and you felt the minibus was really put on to ferry staff to bus stops and us tourists were an inconvenience!
The room was ok, in need of renovation, not up to its star rating. The bathroom was a bit grim!
The main pools were nice, plenty of sun loungers and great views from the infinity pools. The adult pool had tiles missing and again was a bit tired.
The monkey trail through the gardens was well worth doing, we saw humpback whales off the coast while doing the trail.
To be honest The stretch of road from Quepos to Manuel Antonio is very touristy and rammed with hotels so this is probably not the worst place to stay but I don't think they deserve the tourist awards they so proudly display in reception.
If you want to do some trips I wouldn't recommend getting the hotel to organise it (££££). We used a local comapny Iguana tours who collected us from the hotel and were brilliant.
The food is distinctively average and pricey. I would recommend getting the last minibus into the village of manuel antonio and eating in the village or at one of the many eateries that line the road.
We had a lovely time but this was not the highlight hotel of our holiday in costa rica.
The room was never cleaned before 3pm and there were serious fly issues around breakfast time. The staff seemed to think putting jars of jam around the perimeter of the restuarant/balcony would help keep the flys away but in my mind served to attract every fly for miles around!

We are surprised and somewhat sad that the review of this guest did not meet their expectations.
I am not sure which employees did not meet the guests’ expectations but all of our current staff have been here since the hotel opened and we are proud to include all of them in the Parador Family.
In any event, we thank our guest for sharing their feelings and look forward to the possibility of hosting them here again in an effort to correct their unpleasant experience during their stay.

cant ask for a better property ib and around manuel antonio. great pool and attentive staff. the exception is the restarants; over priced for mediocre. Mahi was dry and steak was not prepared as ordered. So far this was the most pricey dinner on our trip and far from the best.

Pros:
- extremely friendly and helpful staff
- beautiful facilities
- excellent breakfasts
- family pool and quieter adult pool
- simple gym to get a sufficient vacation workout

Cons:
- no private beach
- not overly impressed by the dinner meals
- not in a prime location to walk to anything

If you need help organizing your trip and any excursions, get in contact with Natalia and May. May can set you up with day excursions to Manuel Antonio National Park or anywhere you please. Elias was an excellent tour guide and was very knowledgeable.

The hotel has a plethora of wildlife trails throughout the property. You can see sloths, monkeys, iguanas, frogs, and many other types of animals on a short hike out of your room.

I would highly recommend staying here but would suggest you plan to spend most of the day sightseeing in the area rather than staying on the property. You will get more for your money if you invest in some excursions rather than sit by the pool all day!

Room Tip: Presidential suite was spectacular.

The staff here are friendly and helpful, striving to make your vacation a pampered dream. From front desk to tour desk to spa to housekeeping, all questions were answered and wishes accomodated. Beautiful clean spaces and delicious freshly prepared food served in lovely garden settings contribute to the air of relaxation and re-creation. I was there as part of a wedding group, and the reception area on-site was lovely--although we did have to keep scaring the raccoons away from the wedding cake! I rarely take a vacation, but Parador made me want to start doing so more often.
