“Wonderful place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2012

We just returned from spending a week at the Hotel Parador. We had an amazing time just inside the resort. The views from our balcony were amazing. The staff is very friendly and eager to help. The resort's facilities and amenities were all very well kept. The food was great and we wish we could have stayed longer. If it rains, be sure to check out the spa. Also, get to the piano bar for happy hour to request your favorite songs. If you want to venture out, there is someone available all day to book excursions for you and spend time answering all your questions. We did the catamaran boat tour and canopy zip lines. We had a great time on both. Everything was inexpensive (a fraction of NYC prices). We can't wait to return.

Room Tip: We stayed in a premium room and loved it.

Dear Guests,

Thank you so much for your fantastic review! Seems like you enjoyed everything Parador has to offer, from the views to the tours to the food and our on-site entertainment. Even the spa! We’re glad the rate of exchange was so favorable as well, which hopefully means you’ll be coming back to Costa Rica really soon! See you then!

“Beautiful but secluded location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2012

We just left hotel parador. It was a nice property, not on the beach as mentioned before, on a hillside forest overlooking ocean. We were upgraded on arrival to tropical room (given not many people around I think). We got to our room and lock didn't work so they switched our room. Rooms and property were clean. No insects, etc. when we used our shower in our 2nd room, it completely flooded floor, something with a defective shower head design (as noted in previous review) but first they tried to act like we didn't use our shower curtains properly (come on! we are 2 very educated people who know how to use shower curtains). They had us switch rooms again, upgraded again to a suite that was huge and beautiful (totally didn't need a separate living room and kitchen and thank god no probs with shower). We went on river rafting excursion (booked through hotel tour operator). that was a blast - iguana tours, level 3+ rapids, guides made it fun experience. We did manuel antonio park tour through the hotel again, but were disappointed. tour guide didn't really point out much and most things were spotted by others guides or other tourists. We went to hotel happy hour each evening with live music with piano man. This was fun. Piano man very nice and always smiling. We are vegetarians and so here is our experience for food - hotel breakfast was good spread, kept us full through morning excursions. We ate late lunch at the one place open at the hotel for lunch- veggie quesadillas were good, pasta with fresh veggies but bland. We ate dinner one night at hotel- veggie sushi was good, cannelloni was ok. We ate at Ronny's place one night for dinner to get some more authentic Costa Rican food, it was good. We ate sancho's one night for dinner and it had flavorful tex-mex food. The pool areas were nice, though we only used the one near the lunch restaurant. The staff were for the most part really nice. Just FYI, this area and hotel are kinda secluded so not much to do except chill. We tried to go out a few times, but things were closed. Maybe it's because it is still end of green season. Overall, we liked our stay and we recommend the hotel.

Thank you for your kind review! Yes, during green season things are a bit slower, but in general the area is very laid-back, especially at night. Most of the excitement happens during the day with our tours—and they can be quite thrilling and fun! We will pass your comments about the tour guide on to our tour desk to find out what happened that day, since as a general rule our guides are all top of the line and spot an amazing number of animals on each trip. We’re glad you enjoyed the upgrades—the views are something else, aren’t they? Parador is definitely a place to come and relax, so we hope to see you back here on one of our lounge chairs with a view real soon!

“Great location, great vacation!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2012

My husband and I traveled with friends to Hotel Parador after purchasing a LivingSocial vacation package, and we could not have been more pleased with our stay at Hotel Parador! From the moment we arrived and were greeted with cold towels and a complimentary cocktail, our experiences at Hotel Parador far exceeded any of our expectations. We were upgraded to a Premium Room that had gorgeous views of the ocean. The hotel grounds and pools are beyond beautiful and incredibly lush and tropical, and there were monkeys everywhere! We cannot say enough about the fantastic hotel staff. They were incredibly helpful and welcoming and were one of the best parts of the trip. We traveled here in their off season, which we found to be a bonus. The resort was quiet and the few scattered rain showers never prevented us from any activities. The food and restaurant choices here are somewhat lacking and is the only negative we have about Hotel Parador. However, they have a good breakfast buffet, fantastic happy hour, and delicious drinks! We went on a guided rainforest tour, whitewater rafting on the Naranjo River, got a couples massage, and rented kayaks and snorkels at the beach down the road. All of which we would highly recommend! Overall, this trip was absolutely wonderful, and we would highly recommend Hotel Parador!

Room Tip: The Premium Rooms on the 4th floor have gorgeous views of the grounds and ocean!

“Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2012

The hotel is one of the top notch hotels in the area according to our driver from the airport. The hotel itself was great and the rooms were wonderful. We were greeted with a lovely drink upon our arrival. The views from the property are just amazing. We were there during the green season so it was pretty deserted except for a handful of guests. I would recommend getting a suite room if you can. The suites are located in a separate building w/ a jacuzzi on your own private balcony. The room was pretty top notch.

Breakfast was really great with lots of different foods and drinks offered. The lunch menu was pretty decent also. Not sure if its just during the green season or what, but dinner at the restaurant in the hotel was pretty disappointing. The food wasn't that great and it was pretty expensive considering. Better bet to have a late lunch and then catch the happy hour at the bar.

There is a trail to the beach about 200 meters down the road. The trail is a bit rough at some parts, but the beach is pretty isolated. It would have been great to explore the area a bit as there were some interesting places to eat on the main road, but they were pretty far to walk to. There is a hotel shuttle that takes you to Manuel Antonio and back, but it would have been great if they made a stop in between the two locations for people to explore the area.

It was raining pretty hard 2 of the 3 days we were there so we stayed in and relaxed. The area is probably more exciting during the dry season, but since we went during the green season, it was pretty empty.

Room Tip: The suites have a really great view of the property, especially if you're on a higher floor.

We love the green season, too, as things slow down a bit and we’re able to catch our breath—at least a little! The view from the suites is really unbeatable and there’s nothing like enjoying it from your Jacuzzi. We’re sorry you didn’t find our menu to your liking; did you have a chance to visit our other restaurants for dinner? We have a pretty extensive choice of dishes, hopefully you found something that caught your fancy. Manuel Antonio, by the way, is pretty laid back year round, so you really didn’t miss much. The excitement is in the beauty of the nature that surrounds us and in our many tours—especially with our star guide, Elias. We hope to see you here again soon, in any season!

“A Great Trip! A Great Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

I recently took a trip to Quepos and stayed at the Hotel Parador for 4 nights. While I was there I used many of the services ranging from the activities desk to arrange my various activities for each of the days, to using the spa, walking the natural trail on the property, and the pool.

Breakfast was included in with the room and was plentiful. And the food I experienced for other meals was flavorful.

The hotel provided shuttle service to and from Manuel Antonio park, but when I need assistance in getting dropped off in route to the park, they were happy to accomodate my request.

The staff was very friendly and helpful, including providing an assortment of recommendations on activities. The gift shop/sundaries was well stocked and I even was able to get a few great gifts.

The room was very clean and comfortable and while it was a garden room, I was able to see plenty, as well as hear various sounds of the area.

In addition to everything else, given the hotel is situated close to the Manuel Antonio park, they are very intune with not just the normal hotel water preservation efforts, but the larger eco-preservation initiatives.
