“Fantastic product, poorly run”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2012

im a hotelier and can know the difference between when someone is good and trying to be good. the product is impeccable, while room theme where everything functions well at a very affordable price. so here is my rating.
VFM: 5 (the product is too good, quality amenities, rain shower, modern bathrooms, large mirror and everything that will make this boutique hotel feel luxurious)
Location: 3 this is away from the route to the park, have to beat some serious winding roads to access the hotel. The hotel rooms are spread round the hill, so its a trek to go back and forth to the pool and restaurant. you must have a car to get in and out of the hotel if you decide to venture out.
Staff: 4 very friendly, honest and helpful hence the service was impeccable.
Facilities: 3 only because the hotel has a pool and restaurant but no action in or around the hotel at night. you have to drive a mile or two to get to a decent watering hole or a bar for food/cocktails.
Rooms: 5: themed all white. floor to ceiling and most come with a balcony (some with ocean/partial ocean view) The bathrooms are LARGE with awesome showers. the quality of amenity id great too. Housekeeping does a great job of keeping the room clean.

overall three only because of the location and the absence of any vibe in the hotel despite an awesome pool and a great restaurant! the hotel should try and lure more people from other neighboring hotel to hang out at night as Pacific Souss has the potential to do that......

Room Tip: restaurants near by as you would need it. the hotel's restaurant is kinds dead! 1) Barva Roja...

“Its more appearance than substance”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2012

This hotel firms also under PACIFIC SOUSS. We liked the stunning view over the treetops onto the sea as well as the tranquility. The hotel is off the tourist path and you need a car or a cab: to Quepos or Manuel Antonio a cab ride is 4000 colones / 8 $. The rooms are spacious, clean and modern but lacking a bit of coziness and maintainance. The staff can be kind and supportive (thank you Flor) and our repeating water pressure issue has been always solved promptly. With an increase of guests the service gets out of control and the staff gets quickly overloaded. In general the service people has not been really attentive. They definitely need more qualified people. For the price we would definitely expect more.

“Best if you have a car”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2012 via mobile

Overall this is a great hotel. The hotel was very clean in all aspects. The location works best if you have a car. A taxi to Manuel Antonio or the village of shops and restaurants outside the park costs $10. A taxi to Quepos costs $8. Quepos has more restaurants to choose from. The rooms are sparse, no chair to sit on or stand to put your luggagee on. Everything, and I mean everything is white. I know it is chic but weird at the same time. The pool is absolutely lovely. There was no pool butler like the website said either. There is a path to a local beach very close. We went swimming there and rented a kayak $10 pp & snorkel gear $15 per person. 2 hour rental. The restaurant was very good; white linens and fu table service. We went elsewhere to enjoy local food.

“Has Potential”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2012

I was so excited about staying at the Suu Manuel Antonio due to the reviews and pictures online. I had a very comfortable and pleasant stay but this hotel felt vacant and lacking in many areas. It was still being built with only one functioning hotel section. The far right complexes were condos/residences. There are so many choices and price points in Manuel Antonio from super luxurious to hostels/backpacking rooms. This hotel fell in the upper middle. But again, it has so much potential. I will list as below:

PROS:
-Great location. We were upgraded to an ocean view from a garden view. Many trees blocked the view of the ocean directly but I preferred this rather than clearing the rainforest for human greed
-White theme was very trendy and crisp and clean
-Very clean rooms
-Bathroom was spacious and very trendy with nice full showerhead with shower wand and body jets.
-Every room has a balcony
-Blackout rooms were fantastic
-Good insulation- could not hear neighbors
-Restaurant food was delicious; breakfast was included and not a buffet
-Waitress was very professional and nice
-Infinity pool was refreshing
-Front desk was very helpful. They contacted our car rental company to pick up our car instead of us driving it to town/airport.
-Toiletries were very nice with extras including sewing kit, shoe polishing kit, spare razor and shave cream, toothbrush, comb.
-Turn-down maid service in the afternoons
-Can hear howler monkeys at dusk from your balcony
-Fast laundry service (pricey but worth it)
-Smaller, uncrowded beach located down the road. Approximately 1 minute walk away from the hotel and additional 5 minute walk down a rocky trail. We saw howler monkeys, toucans, and a sloth during our walk.

CONS
-felt half built and semi-deserted like they had to open part of the hotel while still in contruction in order to support the completion of the project?
-White theme was nice but nicks on furniture made furnishing look like they were from Ikea
-No cocktail service around the pool
-Slow service at the restaurant (but I think the hotel is limited in staff). Our waitress was working very hard to be timely.
-No internet/business center
-Whirlpool not open and pool not completely furnished (again, made hotel feel half completed)
-Lack of parking space (not a problem for us because there were not many people staying when we were)
-No spa or lack of advertising if it did exist
-Mini bar was not fully stocked like the list they provided
-***** The hotel name is not Pacific Souiss and this had NOT been updated prior to us coming. The signs on the curvy road said SUU and the sign at the hotel said Pacific Souiss. We were very confused and finally figured out where to go due to the pictures I saw online. It took another guest 1 hour to find this hotel due to the hotel name change! *****

Overall, I did enjoy my stay. Once this hotel is fully completed and fully staffed, I am sure it can meet it's luxurious potential.

“Mixid feeling”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2012

The Suu Hotel
We stayed at The Suu hotel for 7 nights and have had mixed feelings about it. Pro: 1) There was an extremely helpful and friendly stuff, especially Jorge, the manager, and Paula. They helped our family a lot, even with things, which were beyond their responsibilities, such as contacting the rent-a-car company when our car got broken in the middle of the road from the airport to the hotel. Any of our requests regarding fixing some problems in the room have been completed quickly and accurately. 2) The cleanliness of our rooms (we had 2) were perfect. The turn-down service in the evening was another great touch. Con:1) The hotel is new and the construction was not completed; the design is amazing, but the comfort is not. The shower door in one of the rooms on the first day didn't open, and we had to call for the staff to repair it. The TV didn’t work in another room. The sliding doors to the closet got stuck in both rooms very often. 2) There were thousands of ants in one room on first day. 3) The key from the rooms often stopped working; we couldn't even get to our rooms on December 31 because the whole system was down. 4) The chef/cook at the restaurant is extremely slow; our first breakfast took 1 hour and the lunch took more than 1.5 hours, even with the diversity of the breakfast choices being very limited. 5) The road from the main building/pool to the hotel itself was very steep and had a scary feeling; it was like 60-70 degrees towards the bottom. 6) Elevator didn't work

Room Tip: Get a room on a higher floor= a great ocean view / no ants
