Always wanted to catch a sailfish, & the Mad Marlin crew did not disappoint. We took our 3 boys (ages 12, 8 & 6 years old) on a full day charter, and I worried that they would get bored, tired, cranky, seasick, etc. That was not the case at all. Capt. Glen & 1st Mate Keller were extremely friendly, great with the boys, and even let them up in the boat's tower while we trolled around. We got 8 sailfish, all in the 70-100 lb range. Our boys got to actively participate, although they did need a little help given the strength of the fighting fish. The crew worked hard, and made sure that all of us had a great time. I will definitely use the Mad Marlin on our next trip down here.

“Great time in Costa Rico with the Mad Marlin”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2014

We had a great time on the Mad Marlin fishing for several days with Gary and Mako. (Captain and 1st mate.) Caught 13 sail fish and one dorado. Mako makes a great sandwich, the only bad part was I had to out it down to catch fish. Darn... Lots of fun. Give them a call if your in that area.

“Great time on the Mad Marlin”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2014 via mobile

We chartered the Mad Marlin for three days w captain Glenn and first mate Mako and we had a blast. Boat was comfortable and provided a good amount of shade for us winter-weary northerners. First day we released 10 Pacific Sailfish. Second day inshore we hooked into several big needlefish and boated a giant 20lb Snook for dinner. Third day, 14 sails caught and released. Largest one was a trophy sail at 130"! Captain Glenn put us on fish continuously. Mako was one of the best mates I've fished with. Fast, expert, attentive and makes a mean sandwich in between hooking fish. Thank you Tony and Leanne for a great time.

“"Just as Advertised"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2014

This was our first offshore fishing excursion and we heard Costa Rica was the place to go. Looking at all the choices and trying to figure out which service is best from all the websites is overwhelming. Everyone sounds just great. Ultimately we settled on the Mad Marlin after a conversation with Tony & Leanne (a gem among stones) via phone. And it was a good choice. We had no prior experience to compare to, but can’t imagine what more to expect. The boat was comfortable and accommodated our party of four day 1 and party of 3 day 2 sufficiently. These guys were at the dock to meet us on time, they took us to get our license, they provided us a variety of snacks and drinks (including beer) at our leisure throughout the day and an awesome sandwich for lunch made by combo First Mate and Fishing Boat Culinary Expert - Mako. Most importantly Captain Glen put us on the fish and both he and Mako worked hard at helping us bring in the big ones. These guys don’t take breaks – solid fishing all day. We caught 12 sailfish and a couple of other fish including Mahi Mahi over two days. Mako filleted our Mahi Mahi (Dorado) on the way back to the marina and we had a local restaurant prepare it for us in the evening. Spectacular! Overall it was a pleasant experience that met our expectations and a great fishing trip to Costa Rica we’ll be inclined to do again.

“Awesome Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2014 via mobile

Mad marlin fishing made my Costa Rica experience. There's nothing like catching a sailfish, and the six of us caught 7 sailfish and 2 mahi mahi. The captain and first mate made sure we were comfortable with all the pineapple, watermelon, beer, soda, water we could possibly want. Can't wait to go back, and it will for sure be with Mad Marlin!
