“Great Spot and A Great Value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2012

I stayed two nights at Jungle Beach Hotel while doing some work in the area after hearing about them from some friends. The room was spacious, bathroom totally remodeled, air conditioning, cable TV, WIFI, coffee available early, great selection of Continental breakfast items, quiet (even though it's near the road), safe in-room, clean and super friendly staff. Kathy the manager was a doll and the front desk was super accommodating. I would highly recommend this hotel for location and everything I mentioned above. This is going to be one of the busiest hotels in MA in no time. You better book early if you plan on traveling in the high season. Did I mention the monkeys on the balcony in the AM? Or the Howlers in the AM?

Room Tip: I had room #3 - it was perfect.

“Best value for $$$ in Manuel Antonio - so close to the beach!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2012

My husband and I were traveling with a friend. We didn't have any booking and after shopping around a handful of places, found Jungle Beach Hotel. Trust us - we've done the leg work, you won't find better value for money so close to the beach! :-) The location is perfect. We stayed in a triple room, and the kind reception staff gave us choice of 3 different rooms which would accommodate the 3 of us. We selected a ground unit, back off the road, with it's own patio and outdoor furniture. There was off-street parking for our vehicle. We had air conditioning and a fridge to keep our snacks and drinks cold. Breakfast is very simple but adequate. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. So much so that we actually returned here for another night on our way back up the coast from Punta Banco down by the Panama border. Unfortunately my husband fell ill that night (obviously a dodgy chicken fajita he'd consumed for lunch on the road trip up that day!) and was quite unwell all night and into the next day. We explained our situation to the kind and understanding hotel reception staff who let us have the room 3/4 into the next day so my husband could rest until he was well enough to get cleaned up and resume our 4 hour drive north that afternoon. He certainly couldn't have done it earlier that day! So they were very kind and empathetic. We really appreciated it. I highly, highly recommend this place to everyone.

“Great Place Close to the Park”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2012

First, this really isn't a typical Bed & Breakfast. However, the breakfast was more than adequate with fresh pineapple, papaya and other fruits in addition to toast, and a type of pound cake.

The hotel is about 60 yards to a semi-private driveway that leads down to the north end of the beach. It's also about a 250 yard walk to the "downtown" portion of Manuel Antonio, where there are several restaurants and shops. It's only another 250 yard walk to the entrance to the Manuel Antonio park. (which if you're scared about walking, you don't need to visit this park anyhow.)

While here, we could hear howler monkeys in the distance during the morning, and one morning, we had a family of squirrel monkeys come behind the hotel and feast on the mango tree. But, the absolute best wildlife was, after searching all day in the park for a sloth, a 3-toed sloth appeared outside our room one evening. Very Awesome!

Also, the bathrooms were beautiful, spacious and immaculate.

There were really only two negatives to this property.
1. The lack of soundproofing in the rooms. One wall is almost entirely glass, which allows you to hear all the wildlife in the morning... but it also allows you to hear the buses on the road.
2. The television was FAR too loud. Even if putting the TV on the lowest volume, it was incredibly loud.

If you reserve a room here, don't opt for the King room next to the office. It's too close to the road. Instead, pick one of the rooms further from the road.

For the money this was one of the best properties we stayed at during our entire vacation to Costa Rica and Panama!

We are so happy that you enjoyed your stay with us. The monkeys often go right thru our property on a regular basis and our guests really like that. It's wonderful that you were able to see the sloth too! There is some road noise during the day in some rooms, but it quiets down considerable in the evening and night time. But most people are out on tours or at the beach all day anyway so any noise wouldnt affect them. Too bad we didnt know about your TV volume problem the first day you were here as I believe we would have been able to rectify that right away. We are going to go ahead and check all the TV's and make adjustments as needed so that future guests don't have the same problem. We really appreciate the feedback and try to take those comments to continue make improvements to the amenities and services. Thank you so much for staying with us and we really hope you can come back and stay with us again!

“Great rooms right next to the beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2012

We spent 3 nights at jungle beach and we had a great time. Firstly the reason it didn't get a five is because it is a touch noisy :(. You are right next to the road and the local bus does thunder past twice an hour, however you then also get the howler monkeys started so it is a bit of fun. Breakfast is also scant, not a huge selection but enough to do you till lunch, and there is endless magnificent costa rican coffee, but enough of the negativity the rest of it.

The location is great. You aren't even 5 minutes from the beach and to get to anywhere else is about a 10 minute walk and no more then 15 to the entrance of the national park, wonderful.

The staff were nice enough, and helpful, and were very quick to help, but they were a bit impersonal. We weren't looking for friends but it was a bit more like a hotel than a b&b, however this didn't affect our stay.

The room is the best part of this entire experience! Decorated beautifully, and the beds are simply amazing!!! The bathrooms are always clean and good water pressure, just what you need after a day at the beach. We had a balcony out the front, and that was a great place to just sit and chill out, have a beer and watch the monkeys :). There is A/C in the room however we never had to use it because the room was so well ventilated that it wasn't necessary.

The laundry is expensive as they charge by the item rather than by weight but you don't have to use that if you want.

All in all a great place to stay for the price, and would recommend to anyone!!

“very nice, clean and super helpful staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2012

It is close to the beach (about 5-7 min walk), but not close enough that you hear any noise. The staff was helpful and recommended where to eat and the food and the place were just amazing. Also, the staff recommended us who to use to tour the park. The only bad thing were the mosquitoes inside the room but other than that the place was pretty awesome. Also, it has free parking and a security guard. .

Thank you for staying with us. Rainy season has started, which means we still have a good mix of sun and some light rains right now, but usually in the evening. The best of both worlds! This also means that there are a few more mosquitos, so we recommend you keep the doors to your room closed as much as possible, to keep the mosquitos from coming in. Especially towards the late afternoon and into the evening. And we do have ceiling fans and air conditioners for your comfort when the room door is closed. We are in the jungle so it's a good idea to bring mosquito repellent and also sunscreen for the beach. That, and a swimsuit are all you need! We are happy you enjoyed the hotel and hope to see you again soon!
