“Free Hotel + Staff!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2013

In August, my family and I visited Hotel San Bada. I have no complaints about this place. It features

1- Standard breakfast
2- Two Pools – at the bottom + on the roof
3- A tiny but sufficient gym
4- Located 5 minutes from the beach (walking distance)
5- Located 3 minutes from small souvenir boutiques
6- Located within 30 seconds of the Manuel Antonio National Park
7- VERY friendly + extremely helpful staff. They speak fluently English too!!
8- Free + FAST Wi-Fi
9- Nice sitting areas on each floor
10- Reasonably price + always have deals going on! We lucked out with 2 nights and third night is free!
11- Because it's a Hotel - no insects or Lizard!

Also because of the location you get to see lots of wildlife from your balcony. On the first day staying there we saw 9 monkeys – 3 babies included!!!!

Can’t think of any negative except for possibly the breakfast area might be on the smaller side and possibly because of the amazing locations, the monkeys will wake you up in the morning

Dear Guest

Great review, we really appreciate it!

Thank you so much for pointing every feature with which the Hotel counts, and specifying every single detail of it, make us feel really good to see that you noticed everything of what we have to offer.

You are so lucky that you get to enjoy the wildlife that surrounds us just from your balcony; our location is just amazing like you said... 30 seconds from the entrance of Manuel Antonio National Park!

We are glad that you took advantage of our green season specials, stay 4 nights and pay only 3. Thanks for mentioning it!

Hope you have brought your camera to picture the monkeys!

Warm regards,

Your friends at Hotel San Bada

Great place and staff was very friendly. As soon as we got to the hotel, we were both served fresh guava juice and hotel staff was ready to take our bags. The location was great, steps to the beach, and steps to the National Park (which is a must do in Manuel Antonio). The rooms were very clean, and the beds and pillows were exceptional!!! Very rarely do I find hotel bed and pillows so firm and such excellent quality. This made for a great night sleep!!! Breakfast was also pretty good, with fresh OJ, fresh guava juice, egg- omelets station, and fresh fruit and yogurt.

There aren't many cons that I can say about the hotel, other than during our visit the Wi-Fi was down for several hours, so we couldn't connect to the internet (but we are on vacation, so no need to check work email). The staff was aware of the Wi-Fi issue and said it was due to an issue with an outside line (which means that it was out of their control). When the Wi-Fi did come up, I found the signal strength to be week, but that could have been a stemming issue from the provider.

Room Tip: stayed in Room 307, which was good because it faced the National Park, so sitting outside, smoking a...

San Bada is right at the entrance to Manuel Antonio State Park, fee $10 per day.
It was like living in the Rain Forest, Monkeys were right in the trees outside our room, an Iguana watched us sunbathing by the pool, two blue rare butterflies fluttered around us.
The room was very nice and clean, the service so special, we left the hotel at 5:30am and Isaac made a breakfast for us only.
The Fish Taco's were the best we ever had. Also the ribs and Carbonara were delicious. It rained quite a bit so we would sit upstairs with a drink, never saw the sunset due to the clouds coming in every afternoon. Did not matter, the place is perfect, everybody was so very nice. we stayed four nights and hiked a lot up the hill toward Quepos and stopped at El Avion for an early dinner. The burgers are fantastic, huge. My husband had the steak, it was tough and I had the whole snapper it was very good. Don't bother to go into Quepos, there is not much to see or do.
Hiking in the park is great, trails are clean and well maintained. There are long and short loops plus a swim at the beach when you are done.

Room Tip: we were on the third floor, it was quiet and you had a view of the back trees. The higher floors cou...

Great place. Staff incredibly helpful. Pool is very fun, slide is fast, be careful. Breakfast buffet is incredible, great rice and beans and plantains. Room very comfortable. I think this place is best for a couple because Adult roof top pool and happy hour are really incredible. We were a family of five with young kids so we did not get to enjoy it as much, but still a real nice choice in MA. Right at the location to the park so if you chose to tour park can go home for lunch and back to MA beach, very very nice. In the evening we saw up to 8 toucans flying around the trees immediately next to the hotel for a few hours two nights in a row. Wild iguanas will eat your crumbs at the pool daily.

If staying in Manuel Antonio and you want to be treated well, have a great room, and be within a short walking distance to the Beaches, Park, Restaurants, and shopping this is the place to stay. Where do I start, I could go on and on about how great this hotel and staff are. My wife, 5 year old, and I stayed for 6 nights. We were right in the middle of paradise and the staff made you feel welcomed and well taken care of. Front desk clerks Christian and Didio (sp?) were awesome. They made sure our tours were fun and suitable for all of us. It would take more than you want to read for me to tell you all I want to tell you about this hotel. So I will just say this, take the word of a traveler that is very particular of where I go and where I stay and just book this hotel you will not regret it.

Hotel San Bada is a beautiful hotel to stay at in the Manuel Antonio area. The hotel is just steps away from the entrance of the National Park, and away from the busiest areas of town.

The hotel is beautiful, and all rooms have a view of either forest or Ocean (top floors can see ocean, lower floors can see forest). From the hotel, the beach and town area is only a 5 minute walk away (that is, if you don't stop to see what treasures the local vendors are selling). The beach is pristine. Beautiful rocks dot the landscape and there are hermit crabs and iguanas everywhere, which make for some fun photographs!

The hotel has a gorgeous 24 hour pool (with a slide!) outside the first floor, and a private adult pool at the 6th floor bar.

The 6th floor bar is only open until 6pm, but the view is perfect for seeing gorgeous sunsets and watching some impressing rain storms. I highly recommend the Pina Coladas! Luis Carlos, the bartender, sure can make them!

The whole staff is very friendly. Upon arrival we were given cool towels to refresh us and fruit beverages. Then Victor gave us a tour of the grounds and helped us carry our bags to the room. He even pointed out a sloth to us, which we had been dying to see! The dining hall staff was very nice and made sure we were well fed and taken care of.

San Bada is a fabulous hotel! Its a great place for families, friends, and surely honeymoons!

Room Tip: Be aware that upper floors will have ocean view (maybe 4th or 5th floors) and lower rooms will have...
