“Made our MA Vacation Extra Special!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2014 NEW

Our excellent experience with MA Expeditions started when Juan picked us (my husband and I and 2 "boys", 21 and 18) up at the airport is San Jose. Just on the drive to MA, he stopped to let us enjoy a delicious CR breakfast, shop for fruit and take a view of the crocodiles at "crocodile bridge". He even spotted a boa constrictor crossing the road! We enjoyed his service so much that we booked a trip back to the airport as well as the MA park tour and Rainmaker tour.

The MA park tour with a guide is a must! I have toured many national parks and was somewhat hesitant but an excellent tour guide such as Edgar is needed to get the full MA park experience! Edgar "wowed" us with his knowledge but even more so he presents information in a way that is fun and keeps the tour moving along at a reasonable pace. We enjoyed our entire time with him and highly recommend Edgar.

Juan took my husband and I on a tour of Rainmaker Park. If you want a true rain forest/waterfall experience with amazing, authentic hanging bridges head to Rainmaker with Juan! Also, included was a lunch stop at a CR family home. The food was fresh and delicious and we loved this personal touch to our wonderful tour.

Finally, Juan also took us back to the airport. After spending an amazing week in MA, no one in my family wanted to leave! But Juan was able to make even our departure an amazing experience. We had seen an abundance of animals (monkeys, sloths, toucans, whales, lizards, snakes, etc.) but still on my bucket list was the scarlet macaw! Several had been released in MA but we had been unable to spot one. I shared my need to spot a scarlet macaw with Juan. And he did it!!! Not only did he spot one, he found a tree full of scarlet macaws on the road back to SJ. Thank you Juan and MA expeditions for making our entire vacation, the best vacation ever!

“Amazing National Park and Mangrove Tours”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2014 NEW

My husband, two kids (ages 8 and 10), and I first took a guided tour through part of the Manuel Antonio National Park, where we learned about some of the flora and fauna in Costa Rica and saw golden orb spiders, lizards, grasshoppers, three-toed sloths, a potoo bird, and raccoons. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. We also thoroughly enjoyed the mangrove tour led by our friendly and knowledgeable tour guide Juan. We learned about the mangrove and saw a crocodile and basilisk lizards (a.k.a. Jesus Christ lizards), encountered white faced monkeys that climbed into our boat (and onto our heads), and drank fresh coconut water straight from the coconut. The tour didn't end with the boat ride. We enjoyed a delicious home-cooked mahi mahi lunch at Paul's house with his family. We loved every minute of it!

“Followup trip with the kids”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2014

after our anniversary trip five years ago, we returned to Manuel Antonio for a "milestone" birthday and took the kids this time... we booked two excursions through Manuel Antonio Expeditions and had an amazing time -- monkeys, sloths, snakes in trees... we did the mangrove tour with Paul and the park tour with Edgar and had a blast on both... Paul and his guides (the same guys from five years ago) aren't just informative, but they're good people to spend time with...

we really enjoyed our return trip and will certainly use Paul's company on our next trip... hopefully sooner than five years...

“Well worth it to get a guide..Katia”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2014

We usually avoid paying for guides but was extremely happy to have done so at Manuel Antonio Park. Our guide was Katia who is typically stationed nearest the entrance as visitors walk inside the park due to the dominant guide company that will approach you at the parking area and the cashier. Katya is especially great with smaller groups (recommended) as she enjoys sharing her abundant knowledge of Costa Rica's biodiversity. Avoid the aggressive guide company if possible as they will try to place you in much larger groups. She helped us take the most amazing pictures using her scope (works best with the iphone) which really made our experience a special one. It would have been near impossible to see anything without her. We would highly recommend her.

“Amazing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2014 via mobile

Tour was an amazing experience. Beautiful park and all varieties of rain forest animals. Our tour guide, Robert Umańa, was the best and could spot out anything with his scope. Definitely recommend the tour and make sure you ask for Robert if he's availible to be your tour guide. Will definitely go back here when I visit Costa Rica again.
