My wife and I went on the Damas Mangrove tour led by Juan and a private guided tour of the Park led by Pablo. Both were fantastic! Juan was great explaining all of the wildlife we encountered and quickly answered all questions thrown at him. Juan's English was very good and he has a great personality for leading as a guide. We even talked about life and politics in a light and humorous way which was also very interesting. Mostly, his knowledge, experience and passion of the natural area was fantastic. We saw many birds, Capuchin and howler monkeys, bats, Iguanas, a boa constrictor and even a silky anteater. I thought the boat trip down the mangrove was beautiful and had a remote tropical feel to it. All in all, this was a really nice enjoyable trip and Juan helped to make it just that. At the end of the trip, we visted Pablo's for a home cooked fish dinner that was quite nice. We would highly recommend Manuel Antonio expeditions for this trip.
Trip # 2 was led by Pablo. He picked us up at 7a.m. and guided us through Manuel Antonio National park. Pablo was thorough in his explanations and stopped to show us everything from trees, spiders, frogs, sloths, Capuchins, Howlers. Pablo took his time in his explanations and also speaks very good English. We asked Pablo many questions about the park, the wildlife and overall life in CR and he was very informative. We had a great walk through the park, learned alot and can't wait to go back. If you want to learn and see as much as possible, a guide is the way to go. You can also enjoy the park without a guide but will be a lot less informed and you will have experienced a lesser amount of the nature in the Park. Pablo is an excellent guide and we highly recommend hiring him for this trip.
