“Well run place and good service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 weeks ago

This place has a real boutique feel. It has huge, spotless rooms with a small kitchen and very modern bathroom, good breakfast and efficient and friendly service throughout. This place is clearly well run and has built a deservedly good reputation over the years. The only downside for me was the location. It's on the road between Quepos and Manuel Antonio, so not in either place, and you'll need a car or catch the bus to get to either. If you're driving, this place is perfect. If not, there's a bus stop close by and buses run frequently which many tourists use. It's on a corner of this busy road though so brace yourself as cars and buses fly by as you walk to the stop

We returned to Plaza Yara this month after about 2 years since our last stay. It was, if possible, more beautiful, and welcoming than before! The rooms had been redone in gray and white, and the lounge and breakfast room moved and spiffed up. Its hard to believe you can get such quality at this price! Breakfast is included and is plentiful and delicious! Also, the kindness and helpfulness of all staff, who go above and beyond to make your stay perfect. Thanks again to Nelson, and Javier, every question answered and taken seriously. Put yourself in their hands and you will be fine. Also, the Plaza's owner personally drove in to Quepos to see if a restaurant we remembered from before was open! I highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to visit Manuel Antonio National Park. It is a close bus ride away. Unfortunately, it was raining most of the time we were there, but the staff made our visit pleasant and memorable!

We have stayed in 4 different hotels in the $70-100 range in Costa Rica and this one was by far the nicest one. The rooms are huge, very clean and decorated like an art gallery. The rain forest is in the back yard. The hotel also has a small pool with a nice and modern deck, Staff is very friendly and welcoming. Found it great that they charge only $1 for a bottle of water unlike many other hotels that charge you double or triple. Breakfast (three different choices) is included. For that price, the hotel is an absolute steal. Keep it up.

Our experience was awkward, though I think they had just reopened. There wasn't food. Our bathroom smelled like sewage. The room was pretty and you can watch the monkeys in the morning. It's awkwardly right on the road and you can't walk anywhere.

Dear Patricia

Thank you for taking the time to post a review of your stay at Hotel Plaza Yara.

With thousands of reviews on Tripadvisor, Expedia, Booking, Hotels and various other sites we also feel awkward reading and responding to our first two star rating. It is also difficult for us to find a record of your stay with us 8 months ago.

Plaza Yara is a small hotel with only 14 suites we have been in operation for ten years, we opened with four suites and have continued to grow steadily. Plaza Yara has never been closed during this time and have received guests 365 days per year.

Plaza Yara serves a complimentary breakfast to all guests, in addition Z restaurant which is located in Plaza Yara is open from 2PM - 10PM daily (during your stay 8 months ago Z restaurant was open 11AM – 10PM daily). Several highly rated restaurants such as La Luna, El Arado, Mimositas and others are located within walking distance to the hotel.

We are unsure as to why there was an odor in your room. Our septic system is checked weekly and is in perfect condition.

Manuel Antonio has a main road which is 7 kilometers in length. Almost all hotels are located on this road. Bus stops for Quepos or Manuel Antonio are located fifty meters from the hotel entrance, the service is excellent and the cost is 60 cents (USD), taxi service is also available.

Manuel Antonio is a unique vacation destination; the hotels in our paradise are located a short distance away from the beaches. The beaches remain beautiful and full of vegetation which may disappoint travelers looking for beach front resorts.

We also want to thank you for your kind words concerning your suite and are happy you had the opportunity to see monkeys at the hotel during your stay.

Pura Vida!!!
Nelson Monge

Best value for a traveler while visiting Quepos. The hotel is clean, well maintained, and the staff is very friendly. Our room was spacious with 2 beds, a large sized bathroom with a shower that easily fits more than one person, a fridge, coffee maker. Our room also provided us with eating utensils (cups, silverware, plates).

Our room also had an an outdoor balcony with a table and chairs. We watched white faced monkeys jump from branch to branch while sitting on the balcony.

This hotel is just a 1/2 block from one of the Manuel Antonio bus stops. The bus will take you to the beach and restaurants. It runs every 20 minutes and only costs around 60 cents.

Breakfast consists of 3 choices. Two are hot choices (eggs, rice) and one is a cold option (granola, yogurt). Remember you are in the rain forest so the ants are around! If you wait to long to eat your breakfast then you have ants climbing on to your plates.

First time in Costa Rica and loved this place! The setting the artwork and the amenities were all there but the best part was our host Javier. His kind attention and genuine hospitality were the best we encountered in our 9 days in CR. All our questions were answered above and beyond including the origin of the art that we purchased. If you are a mask collector just ask and you will be amazed. The seafood at Z's was amazing and prepared just perfectly. Excellent service there as well. Our server at breakfast and everyone we encountered had a winning attitude. Excellent value all around! If I had any suggestion for improvement the mattress could have been upgraded one notch and that I believe was coming in the remodel.

Great place to stay!

The rooms are HUGE and very clean. Mini refrigerator in the room and a large balcony.

A very modern hotel compared to other places we stayed while in Costa Rica. Staff was very helpful and welcoming.

The breakfast was great each morning and the hotel is just a short drive to the beach. I would not recommend walking on the streets while in Manuel Antonio. The roads are narrow with little to no sidewalks. We saw people walking and it did not look safe. Take a cab or drive.

We saw monkeys outside this hotel, which we thought was great!
