“Nice place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013

Clean, modern, light and spacious. Well equipped apartment. Which had a great view of the forest I could have sat for hours just watching the wild life.

The pool is small but perfect and twice a day monkeys make their way past the hotel pool.

Breakfast was very good as was the service.

We just spent 2 nights at the Plaza Yara and found it to be everything we expected. The rooms were extremely spacious and clean with a lovely, private balcony, service great, breakfast super - this is definitely a lovely place to stay and the price-quality is definitely hard to beat.

I enjoyed my stay here very much. If you get a rental, it's about 3 hours from San Jose depending on the traffic. Not to be redundant, but the rooms were huge, a fantastic breakfast is included, A/C, huge shower, and a little patio that looks out into the jungle. I sat out there every morning bird watching... and monkeys! Pool is cute, quite small, but really you should be on the beach and not in the pool. Beach and manuel antonio national park is right down the street. Bus stop is 100 feet from the hotel and fare is cheap. The staff were very polite and helpful. One gentleman referred us to several excellent restaurants when we were looking for "typical" costa rican fare. (thank you jonathan!) Computer with internet in the office / gallery. If I had a complaint, it would be with Costa Rica's third world (or "developing" if you prefer) septic systems. Not the hotel's fault, but be warned that throughout the country you will encounter finicky toilets that choke on even the smallest piece of toilet paper. Overall, I was very happy with my stay at Hotel Plaza Yara.

We recently enjoyed a 3 night stay at Hotel Plaza Yara and only wish we could have stayed longer. The hotel is located conveniently beyond Quepos, but outside of the more congested areas of Manuel Antonio. The hotel is well maintained. Our room was big and very comfortable. The air conditioning worked extremely well and provided a welcome relief out of the heat. The bathroom was modern and the shower had great pressure and more then enough hot water.

The room had a clean refrigerator for holding our cold Imperial beer to enjoy on the balcony and a safe for holding valuables. Our balcony provided a tranquil view with a jungle feel, even though the hotel fronts the main road. Full breakfasts were provided outside, providing a great view to
start the day. We even experienced a troop of squirrel monkeys close up on our last morning there!

But as great as the physical hotel itself was, the real gem here is the front office manager, Javier. He sets a tone that makes you feel like you're on vacation from the moment he greets you. In our case, our contact began with him through email. Javier answered all our questions promptly and professionally and the booking was done smoothly. And in person, he was even more hospitable. No matter what was asked of him, he was able to provide invaluable recommendations and multiple options. He has a very pleasant personality and excels at what he does. We have found that most "Ticos" are beyond friendly and helpful, but Javier tops the list!

We will return to the area next year with friends and family, and most certainly look forward to visiting with Javier and the Hotel Plaza Yara.

Jay and Vanessa

Room Tip: Ask for an end room with a balcony. We had room 11.

Since Manuel Antonio is a tourist mecca in Costa Rica, finding a reasonably priced quality hotel is difficult. Unless you MUST have a room overlooking the beach, the Plaza Yara is excellent. Our room was the largest I have ever had in Costa Rica. Decorated very tastefully in a modern style, it has original oil paintings on the walls as well as a small kitchen and refrigerator. The room had a terrace right next to the swimming pool, which is small but has the jungle as a background; Breakfast was excellent, again with the jungle behind the outside terrace. Service was excellent; the staff is friendly and makes excellent recommendations for meals.. In the lobby there is a fine art gallery and souvenir shop, much, much better than the normal items one finds all over Costa Rica. A great experience!

Room Tip: Room # 12 faces the jungle and the pool, with a nice terrace.

Been traveling for over a month now, including usa, and this by far is the best hotel so far.

The room were like a small apartment and it was wery clean. The bathroom had the best standard and was very clean and modern. Laaarge shower. Thanks to the room cleaners for being very thuroug.

We would like to thank Jonathan for being most helpfull and very friendly!
The general service level of the staff i the best we have ever experienced.

Fast internet and wifi, pool by the forest, safe in the room, spidermonkeys passing by, the best breakfast, free computer and printing, outside the buzzle of manuel and queopos, 150m from the bus stop.

The only bad thing was that the bed was too hard.

Our staying in this hotel was a great pleasure.
The service, communication en the very very big room more than fantastic.
Parkingplace in front of the room. Personal served breakfast of very nice qyality.
Swimmingpool is a little small but in a good place and sufficient in natural surrounding.
Location between Quepos and Manuel Antonio but with the public bus no problems.
