We stayed at Hotel Plaza Yara for 2 nights early September - this place is amazing. It's a small little hotel located between Quepos and Manuel Antonio - within a few minute bus ride or taxi ride from both Quepos and Manuel Antonio. It has a secluded feel to it - and backs on to a lush forest. The rooms are gorgeous, and massive, beautiful little patios, a small pool, gorgeous bathrooms, etc. The service here is amazing - very helpful (we left our camera charger at home, and Jonathan one of the staff members offered to meet us in Quepos on his day off to help us find a charger to fit our camera battery (since myself and my boyfriend speak little to no Spanish). He guided us through town, and we found a charger to fit our camera for $7USD. After we thanked him up and down, we wanted to give him a tip for helping us and he refused to accept it. For management that might be reading this - Jonathan is truley an asset to this hotel! My boyfriend and I agree that we have never received such kind hospitality from someone in all of our travels.
Regardless of the service, this is a great hotel, I would recommend it for anyone looking for some peace and quiet yet with convenience of easy travel to Manuel Antonio. Breakfast is included, and they bring it to your room and you can eat it on your patio (includes large portion of fresh fruits, breads/cakes, yoghurt, cereal bars, juice, etc.). The rooms all have a bar fridge, coffee makers, microwaves, sink, dishes, etc.
Some more points:
bus stop right outside hotel
quiet, yet not too far from town and restaurants
two restaurants, also down the road within walking distance are a few more
Cons (only one really):
two restaurants in the hotel aren't really a "bargain", however, they are decent priced depending on what you order. Keep in mind - food prices are typically between $8-20 per person in Costa Rica, we stayed for 2 weeks and it was hard to find meals cheap wherever you go. We typically at the restaurants here shared the pizzas, which ran from $8-$12.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel - its a beautiful hotel, stylish, and somewhat romantic :) Very different from your typical massive all inclusive resort - you will really enjoy this hotel!
