Barba Roja greeted us first with convenient parking and great location. The waiting staff was a pure example of pura vida, Costa Rican politeness. The bar had big, nice TVs which obviously catered to the Gringo crowds common in the area for high season. Our visit, during low season, was still impeccably catered to. The menu was explained very well and they didn't rush us despite our late arrival and the last ones to leave. I enjoyed some of the BEST mahi mahi encrusted in a sweet almond with crisp, fresh veggies and mashed potatoes. The staff included bread and a delicious tres leches per our request even though it was not part of the menu. I'm excited to visit again during sunset as this location is perfect to view it. The bathrooms were extremely clean and a nice touch to be off from any main areas of the restaurant. Costa Rican builders don't always think of this and you can find yourself in some pretty embarrassing situations in some restaurants. For the tourist areas the price was very reasonable and affordable. Expect to pay about 7,000 colones per plate. (that's $14 USD) *this price is high only considering comedas tipicas en less popular areas of Costa Rica are about 4,000 colones* The only complaint I have is that they only have the ribs on the menu on Fridays. Can't wait to visit again!
