Having just gotten back from Costa Rica this week, the only place that stood out in my mind (other than the wildlife and beaches) was Marlintini's. We actually stayed in Jaco, about an hour away, yet after the first time we stumbled upon Marlintini's halfway through our stay, we decided we needed to come back. Chris and Elias were the two friendliest people we'd met during our stay in Costa Rica. We ended up sitting at the bar for hours just talking to them and enjoying the atmosphere (and staying out of the rain). The food was great and I was glad to see it wasn't served in the giant portions I'm used to back in the US. You know, the kind of portions you force yourself to finish long after you're full and end up in a "food coma". Not to say they were small portions either. After a day of hiking through Manuel Antonio National Park, the meal really hit the spot.
But the aspect of the meal that really stands out is the martini's. Not much of a fan myself, I do admit I was skeptical, but the martini's Chris served up were amazing. My girlfriend though the menu should be re-written. Naming the martini's "ambrosia" (food of the Gods).
The first night, we'd stopped for an entire meal and to relax after a long day of walking in the heat. The second night, we just came by for a lighter snack. Even the appetizers (nachos and chicken skewers) were delicious. This time we limited the number of martinis (an hour drive on Costa Rica roads requires some sobriety, I'd learned) and once again enjoyed the amazing service at this restaurant.
We'd tried several restaurants and bars in the area during our stay, and Marlintini's was definitely the best of the best.
