Input, though small and with no real parking area, the place seems quiet and family without many luxuries, we can say that the rooms are clean and spacious, all good until you try to use the air conditioning, it sounds so strong that rest is really threatened, or die of heat or noise. The pool looks like a pond, and a few cans of zing serve as a fence in the back. The food, while small, is rich, but the price is not at all competitive and good, continental breakfast included understood literally two toast and a cup of coffee, so. The lady is friendly, but does not waste time to highlight their knowledge of the German language and its rejection of "gringos". The overall price is not competitive and quality is really must. Not recommended at all...

In a nutshell, this is a clean very basic hotel room. This Hotel is on the top of the hill above the park and beaches, it is not perched on the hillside either like many hotels but slightly off the main road making this a quiet hotel to sleep at. The breakfast the hotel serves in the morning is the typical local breakfast consisting of toast, oj, coffee, jam, butter, eggs, and pinto Gaiio and fresh fruit. The staff here are very helpfull and lovely people to have around. If you stay here, it is a good bang for your buck.

We stayed at this hotel with our group.
It is very far away from the beach (you have to take a 15 minutes bus ride).
The female owner was very rude when I asked why she was handing out all the more unattractive dark rooms in the basement to our group while the nicer ones were still vacant. She stuck with it and didn't give us the nicer rooms which I think is very inappropriate.
On top of it she spoke very pore English.
We had to pay an extra 15 dollars for air conditioning and had only cold water for most of our stay.

Also the very tiny breakfast was overpriced at a cost of 7 dollars - if you really decide to stay at this place there are nice restaurants and a supermarket along the road that goes down to the beach.

I would really not recommend this place - nowhere else on our Costa Rica trip I have met a person as rude and unfriendly as the female owner of this hotel.

...but, it is now in not so great condition. For one, bathtubs would not drain in none of the rooms our group was using. Hot water was intermittent, and sewage odour lingered in the rooms that were located on the lower level. In my own room, a part of the window glass was missing, so it was impossible to control either the temperature or the insect population. My linen was stained, and I actually slept with a towel over my pillowcase. I wanted to reuse my towels and let them dry on a rack, yet I would find them folded in towel animals on my bed.
I would have gladly overlooked all of this and not even written this review had it not been for a highly arbitrary pricing structure that the owner of the property was practicing at all times and her unkind, unwelcoming demeanor.
Nowhere could we find pricing for food/drinks, laundry services etc. I'm surprised to find out that some previous guests had breakfast included -- we had to pay $7 USD for pancakes OR eggs plus two slivers of pineapple and ONE half-full cup of weak coffee.
I consider it my responsibility to caution travelers considering this property for their next vacation.

I think you could either enjoy this place! stayed here 3 nights
The rooms are great. Had refresching pool with confortable lounge chairs. Breakfast every day is different and it's free. Had delicious rice and beans, a typical breakfast. The coffee is the best! The location is perfect, you can visit Qeupos and Manuel Antonio.

I can say that I almost completely agree with the review done by Gaudi1234 below. We were also here with a small group and had the entire place to ourselves. The rooms are certainly nothing special - very simple - but we made do. The family that owns and runs the hotel was very friendly and made us feel welcome. It was also quite nice to interact with the family. We got to know the two family dogs, sat at dinner one night while one daughter did her homework at the table next to us and witnessed the parents quiz the children one night about what they learn at school that day.

We did have some concerns though.... 1. two cockroaches were seen by the pool during our 3 night stay 2. water was very unreliable. we sometimes had no hot water and at other times had none at all, having to wait >1 hour 3. Rooms have air conditioners but if you leave them on while not at the hotel, staff will go in and shut it off on you. This angered a few in our group. Others just looked at it as a small family run business trying to save electricity and money - I'll leave that up to you.

Overall, I think you could either enjoy this place or hate it. If you are looking for a basic place with only a few frills (pool, air conditioner) and want to possibly experience a genuine Costa Rican family then this might be for you. If you are expecting anything more, I'd suggest looking elsewhere.
